The Price of Freedom: 81-year-old Riding His Bicycle across Southern United States
More than 3625 miles on a bicycle.
81-year-old Tom Cawood is starting in San Diego in the middle of August and riding across the southern United States on his bicycle. He will finish in St. Augustine, Florida.
We've been doing twenty to thirty miles a day, Cawood said. Tom's goal is to average sixty miles a day.
We want to dip our rear wheel in the Pacific, and the front wheel in the Atlantic Ocean, Tom said.
Tom's wife Pat will follow him an RV and will ride with him when she can.
This trip isn't just about crossing a goal off their list the Cawoods want to help people in the process.
The first one is to bring awareness and support to our disabled American Veterans, Pat Cawood said. Our family has generations of military tradition.
Pat's father served in the Navy for twenty-seven years, and Tom was in the military in the 1950's. The Cawood's have a son in the Army, and a son who served in the Marines before he passed away. They also have two grand-children who served.
The DAV is just one charity they're working with. They are also working with Livestrong at the YMCA, and a mission program called Send North America. There is more information about these charities on their Facebook page.

City Forces Participation or Will Close Your Business - Protect Fayetteville Rally
The following 16 minute video is of Aaron and Melissa Klein who came to the Protect Fayetteville Rally on August 11th to share why they had to close their business because of a law just like the 5781 Ordinance. The Kleins were also fined 135k because they didn't want to be forced to participate in a same-sex ceremony. On the record, Fayetteville's city attorney clearly states that Ordinance 5781 would make it illegal to decline participation by any individual in an LGBT event.
#stopthebully #nwark
Like many of the SOGI laws being passed in city council's and states across the United States, our Fayetteville Ordinance does the following:
*Ordinance 5781 is not about civil rights, it’s about giving special status to the LGBT.
*Ordinance 5781 does not comply with normal due process of law.
*This ordinance forces participation.
*This Ordinance Violates Freedom of Religion.
*The complainant can file a complaint at no cost to them, even if they make false claims.
*A person is guilty in this process until they can prove themselves innocent.
*The “LGBT Rights Commission” make up all their own rules.
*The “criminal penalties” and fines can amount up to thousands of dollars. Read the fine print.
*A permanent criminal record and jail time are possible for people of faith who stand on Freedom of Religion.
*The complainant can also sue in civil court.
*If the “LGBT Rights Commission” finds someone guilty, their business license can be revoked.
*Home based businesses are subject to having their utilities turned off if they do not comply to Ordinance 5781.
*The “LGBT Rights Commission” does not exist for other groups such as people of faith, the disabled, veterans, or ethnic groups, but only administrates LGBT complaints.
*The city council is forcing individuals to choose between exercising their religion or obeying this Ordinance.
*All businesses will be required to open their female bathrooms, locker rooms, showers, etc. to men.
*1 in 3 women will experience sexual abuse in their lifetime and this ordinance escalates trauma and anxiety.
*Most of the Chambers objections to Chapter 119 remain in Ordinance 5781.
*Ordinance 5781 is in violation of Arkansas State Law Act 137.
*Ordinance 5781 is in violation of the U.S. and Arkansas Constitutions.
*Ordinance 5781 creates a dangerous environment for Fayetteville businesses.
*Discrimination is not declining to participate in an event.
*Whether true or false, a written complaint against a business, will likely result in a public hearing before the “LGBT Rights Commission.”
*Any disgruntled employee, dissatisfied customer, or job applicant could ruin a business with a false claim.
FULL: Donald Trump Rally in St. Augustine, FL
Brought to you by Desert Diamond:
A defiant Donald Trump blamed his worsening campaign struggles on phony polls from the disgusting media on Monday, fighting to energize his most loyal supporters as his path to the presidency shrinks.
Just 14 days until the election, the Republican nominee campaigned in battleground Florida as his team conceded publicly as well as privately that crucial Pennsylvania may be slipping away. That would leave a razor-thin pathway to the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House on Nov. 8.
Despite continued difficulties with women and minorities, Trump refuses to soften his message in the campaign's final days to broaden his coalition. The strategy leaves no margin for error. Yet Trump offered an optimistic front in the midst of a three-day tour through Florida as thousands began voting in person.
I believe we're actually winning, Trump declared during a round table discussion with farmers gathered next to a local pumpkin patch.
A day after suggesting the First Amendment to the Constitution may give the press too much freedom, he insisted that the media are promoting biased polls to discourage his supporters from voting.
The media isn't just against me. They're against all of you, Trump told cheering supporters later in St. Augustine. They're against what we represent.
With Trump on the defensive, Democrat Hillary Clinton worked to slam the door on his candidacy in swing state New Hampshire while eyeing a possible Democratic majority in the Senate.
The former secretary of state campaigned alongside New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan, who is running for the Senate, and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who was merciless as she seized on Trump's history of predatory sexual language and several allegations of misconduct.
He thinks that because he has a mouth full of Tic Tacs, he can force himself on any woman within groping distance, Warren charged. I've got news for you Donald: Women have had it with guys like you.
Andrew Young Memorial Crossing in St. Augustine FL
In June 1964, Andrew Young was sent down to Florida to peacefully protest racial inequality. His mentor, Martin Luther King, Jr., asked the 32 year old Young to stage the demonstration. When Young arrived, a white mob waited: They beat him and the other protestors, who did not fight back or even resist. Afterward, they simply walked away. One month later, the civil rights bill passed in Congress. Many consider Young's beating in St. Augustine a pivotal moment in the changing of public opinion for civil rights.

Civil Rights Movement Begins - Decades TV Network
Montgomery, Alabama, became the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement in 1955 when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person on a segregated bus. Martin Luther King, Jr., emerged as the leader when he organized a non-violent protest movement which led to a 381 day bus boycott that was successful in ending segregated seating on Montgomery’s buses.
St. Augustine, Florida
St. Augustine (Spanish: San Agustín) is a city in Northeast Florida and the oldest continuously occupied European-established settlement and port in the continental United States. San Agustín was founded in September 1565 by Spanish admiral Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, and subsequently served as the capital of Spanish Florida for two hundred years. It remained the capital of East Florida as the territory changed hands between the Spanish and British, and remained the capital of the Florida Territory until it was moved to Tallahassee in 1824. Since the late 19th century, its historical character has made the city a major tourist attraction. It is the headquarters for the Florida National Guard.
