MV Ushuaia
Originally built for the United States agency NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration), the ice-strengthened polar vessel USHUAIA is very well appointed and provides ample deck space and an open bridge policy. The full complement of inflatable landing craft ensures superb landings and wildlife viewing opportunities on the otherwise inaccessible coastline.
All cabins include ample storage space. Public areas feature a large dining room (one sitting), an open-plan observation lounge / lecture room with modern multimedia equipment, bar and a well-stocked library. There is also a changing room and a small infirmary. Our expert captain, officers and crew are highly experienced in Antarctic navigation and have a great love of nature. We provide a specialist team of international expedition leaders and lecturers, all extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, helpful and dedicated to the protection of the environment. Our chefs prepare excellent cuisine including many local specialties and the bar is well-stocked with carefully selected wines and spirits.
Adventures in Argentina: Episode 1 of 4?
First of hopefully 4 episodes of my time at Freestyle Kayak World championships in San Juan, Argentina. The kayaking is fun but not very visually stimulating, but the area is amazing and there is lots of cool stuff I hope to share through these few episodes as well as background on what its like to compete in an international freestyle event. Definitely more travel Blog than kayak porn.

Tips to book BUDGET Antarctica
Is it possible to visit Antarctica on a budget? As a digital nomad and full-time traveller I work on finding the cheapest possible ways to travel. In today's slightly different video I break down how I got a great last minute deal to the Antarctic and what isn't included in the cost as part of my budget travel tips. This isn't a sponsored video or anything, just wanted to share the information. It's also a bit of a different video for me, just talking to camera so had to try some new stuff out :)
The company I used is Freestyle Adventure Travel ( watched this video 17 times and never caught that mistake!) and their link is here:

Ski Patagonia, Argentina (Bariloche) Adventure
We skied in Patagonia, outside the town of Bariloche, Argentina, South America last summer and ripped crazy powder lines, did some ski touring and mountaineering. Cerro Cathedral is the lift accessed mountain. During the trip we received about 14 feet of new snow. Due to the severe weather, avalanche conditions were high and there were not many days for good filming. :( See more at Patagonia2008.kskihouse.com

Backcountry Skiing at Mallín Alto in Patagonia, Argentina
Backcountry Skiing in Patagonia at Mallín Alto near Bariloche, Argentina, was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. The history of the land, the remoteness of the luxury dome housing, and, of course, open wilderness for as far as the eye can see (and ski!).
Half the fun is just getting there, driving through rivers and up steep inclines in a UTV. If you want to ski in Patagonia, don't miss this adventure.
We heard of Mallín Alto through two Bostonians we met at a bar while watching Argentina in the FIFA World Cup. We moved to Bariloche, Argentina, a few days prior for the 2018 ski season at nearby Cerro Catedral, the premier ski mountain of South America. As the winter went by, which had been light on the snow at Cerro Catedral, we knew we had to change tactics and go to the snow instead of waiting for it.
We chose to do a one night stay with a day of skiing at Mallín Alto. Our meeting point was in downtown Bariloche where we drove in a pickup truck off-road deep into the Patagonian wilderness. We drove through streams along roads that no one could see but Kao, the owner and founder of Mallín Alto. His family owned the land since the late 1800's - and when I say land I mean the whole mountain range. It was incredible. After hours in the truck, the trail became too steep, so we moved into the UTV. We arrived after sunset, and the full moon was shining over the dome houses.
Inside, we were greeted by a raucous group of Americans who had been living and skiing there for a week. The chef was working away in the open kitchen while the remaining team members tended the hot tub. Local Argentine wine and fernet was free-flowing, as well as the locally brewed beer we drank out of locally made ceramic beer steins. The meal was a full parrilla-style steak set, and we wouldn't have it any other way in Argentina. It was phenomenal.
With the current snow conditions, the several ski guides there set our ski-departure time at 10:00 AM. This was when the snow should be warmed up from the sun since it had been icy in the prior days. We all left to our rooms (there are about a half dozen) after a hot shower.
In the morning, we ate a full breakfast of eggs and fresh bread with dulce de leche (which, fun fact, was invented in Argentina) before suiting up in our snow gear. The guides laid out the plan for which mountains we would ski. The group of twelve of us headed out on four snowmobiles, all driven by one of the teammates. We then split into two groups, each led by a guide, down the mountain. At the bottom of each free-run, we were greeted by a waiting snowmobile to get brought back up to the top.
We made our way around the mountain, following the best powder, for several hours before heading back to the domes for a late lunch. From there, we departed that slice of winter heaven back to reality.
To get the most out of this ski trip, get your butt in shape. It will be much more fun. Use our free program, specifically for this ski trip:
Another favorite adventure nearby was hiking from Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi to Refugio Frey (2-4 hours depending on conditions). Make sure you make reservations so you have a place to sleep. Otherwise, be prepared for winter camping.
If you have time to drive to San Martin de Los Andes, climbing Volcan Lanín was another amazing experience! We documented the full journey to the summit here:

The Skier's Journey Patagonia 2018
For 8 years it has been a dream of mine to visit Patagonia in South America. I wanted to explore the unknown and to push my limits in skiing and adventure. This September my dream came true. Myself and two good friends lead and created three epic adventures of the skier's journey in Patagonia. It is a trip that I will always remember.
The first adventure was the steep skiing the couloirs of Refuge Frey in Bariloche, Argentina which you can also see at:
The second adventure was skiing and living in refuge El Caulle in Puyehue volcano in Chile. You can also see this adventure at:
The last adventure we backcountry skied and toured Mount Tronador in Bariloche, Patagonia. You can see this adventure on:
This video combines all three adventures to give you the ultimate adventure video of Patagonia.
