FREIBURG IM BREISGAU, GERMANY
We aren't having much luck with the weather today. It is really rainy here in Freiburg. It is Easter weekend but we are out an exploring and we want to show you the city. Let's go have a tour.
One of my first impressions of Freiburg is that it is such a great city to walk around in. That's all we've been doing so far. It's very picturesque. There are cobbled streets and it is also very historic.

Thankfully, the weather has shifted dramatically for the better. Earlier we had been rained out, so we had to head back into the hotel because it was cold and windy. Now we're seeing a few patches of blue skies, so we're going to keep exploring around Freiburg.

Germany: One Day in Freiburg
It's summer in Germany! Well, it is supposed to be at least. The weather this week wasn't really good and didn't really look like summer. It was cloudy and sometimes raining almost all day but we still went to out for a day trip. Freiburg is our first stop for this week full of day trips to cities nearby. 4K Münstermarkt Freiburg im Breisgau GERMANY ドイツ
On the south side of the Minster there are up to 65 stalls where you can marvel at the versatile and extraordinary displays of merchants. Here original ceramic and wood works are offered for sale. Next door, exotic fruits, preserved antipasti and fragrant spices promise delicious taste sensations. The market's offer varies depending on the day of the week and the season, as nature dictates: strawberries and asparagus in spring, bright flowers and berries in summer, extraordinary pumpkin varieties and spicy mushrooms in autumn, and all sorts of cabbage specialties and hot chestnuts in winter.
The most beautiful is the Cathedral Square on Saturday morning. The market then provides a lot of life and atmosphere.
The Friborgers have been buying their vegetables from the farmers for generations and have combined this with the Roten at the sausage stand. Here is especially Häusler sausage stand recommended.

GERMANY: Freiburg city & Schlossberg tower [HD]
Freiburg im Breisgau is situated in the heart of a major wine-growing region. Because of its scenic beauty, relatively warm and sunny climate, and easy access to the scenic beauty of the Black Forest, Freiburg is a hub for regional tourism.
At the centre of the old city is the Münsterplatz or Cathedral Square, Freiburg's largest square. A farmers market is held here every day except Sundays. This is the site of Freiburg's Münster, a gothic minster cathedral constructed of red sandstone, built between 1200 and 1530 and noted for its towering spire.
The city has an unusual system of gutters (called Freiburg Bächle) that run throughout its centre. These Bächle, once used to provide water to fight fires and feed livestock, are constantly flowing with water diverted from the Dreisam. During the summer, the running water provides natural cooling of the air.
Freiburg is known as an eco-city because of its advanced environmental practices. The citizens of Freiburg are known in Germany for their love of cycling and recycling. The city has an extensive pedestrian zone in the city center where no automobiles are allowed.
Freiburg is a center of academia and research with numerous intellectual figures and Nobel Laureates having lived, worked, and taught there. The city houses one of the oldest and most renowned of German universities, the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, as well as its medical center.

Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Freiburg im Breisgau is a city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, in the Breisgau region on the western edge of the Black Forest. It straddles the Dreisam river, on the foothills of the Schlossberg. The city is bordered by the Black Forest mountains Rosskopf and Bromberg to the east and Schönberg, Tuniberg to the south. The Kaiserstuhl hill region lies to the west.
Freiburg was founded in the 12th century (1120) by Duke Konrad of Zähringen as a free market town; hence its name, which translates to free (or independent) town the word frei meaning free and Burg, like the modern English word borough, was used in those days for an incorporated city or town, usually one with some degree of autonomy. However, the German word Burg also means a fortified town as in Hamburg. Thus, it is likely that the name of this place means a fortified town of free citizens
