Hiking from Spiller's Cove to Codjacks Cove, Twillingate, NL
Travel writers Keith and Heather Nicol recently hiked some of the superb coastal trails in Twillingate, Newfoundland. The Spiller's Cove to Codjack's Cove trail can be done as an extension of the French Head to Spiller's Cove trail or as a separate loop. From scenic Spiller's Cove the trail passes along a particularly attractive section of coastline composed of small offshore islands and sea stacks. The trail is like a roller coaster with each highpoint presenting the hiker with a new view.Toward the end of the trail there is an osprey nest on an offshore island and we saw the osprey soaring overhead looking for food. This trail just over 7 km long and will likely take 2-3 hours to complete. The trail head is at: 49 39.670 N and 54 43.855 W. For more hiking information check out:

HIKING TWILLINGATE SOUTH
Twillingate has a number of well groomed and well used hiking trails. Most of these trails hug the coastline and depending on the season, whales and icebergs may be sighted.
HIKING TWILLINGATE ISLAND
I may be a bit biased as I was born and schooled in Twillingate but this place is, without a doubt, one of the most picturesque and popular communities in outport Newfoundland. Its rugged coastline makes an ideal location for those who enjoy hiking and the thrill of something different from your normal 'through the woods' hiking.

the wonderfull song is from Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers;
I transladed it in french it's such a true song;
LE CHANT DE TERRE NEUVE;
Et elle est entourée par le vent, par la mer;
Rejoint par des criques et des baies;
A Twillingate, Fogo et , Little Hearts' Ease
Et elle est entourée par le vent, par la mer;
Et elle est entourée par le vent, par la mer;
Comme le pasteur, le lion et l'agneau;
Et elle est entourée par le vent,par la mer;

A Hike up the Copper Mine Trail, Bay of Islands, Newfoundland and Labrador (by Peter Bull)
This past week I had the opportunity to hike the Copper Mine Trail with some friends from Alberta who are touring the province. I had the opportunity to snowmobile to the viewpoint at the end of the trail on the first day of spring this past year. Hiking to the top proved to be a little more of a workout.
Located near York Harbour in the Bay of Islands, the Copper Mine Trail passes through a variety of vegetation types as it climbs to its 2034ft summit at Blow Me Down. There we found yet another perfect lunch spot. The view out the bay and in towards Corner Brook is spectacular. My Albertian friends have no shortage of mountain hikes to take, but none of those combin with million dollar coastal views. We were even treated by seeing a big bull moose on our way up to the top. This was one hike that was undeniably enjoyed by my Albertian friends and no lees so by this Newfoundlander. I will have to do it with the rest of my family as it is certainly worth doing more than once.

Hiking Gros Morne Mountain | Newfoundland, Canada
Clips from our Sept 17 hike up Gros Morne Mountain. The return trip was 16 km and took about 4.5 hours. Not featured in the video is the female moose that delayed us by a few minutes as we waited for her to cross the trail and head into the woods (was caught a little off guard with my camera in hand).
Footage shot with an iPhone 6 mostly, with a few GoPro shots thrown in.
