In the Spotted Cat on Frenchmen Street, New Orleans
On the 2nd day in the Big Easy we have been in the Desperado, our favorite Italian restaurant, and then we strolled through Frenchmen ending up in the Spotted Cat, one of the oldest Jazz clubs in the French Quarter. I could not resist, I had to dance, and Fritz could not resist, he had to shoot me.

Michael James On Frenchmen Street New Orleans
My Graveyard Jaw was started in 2003 by front man Michael James . After years of living deep in the Oregon forest in protection of old growth tree's, traveling the United States , and many tours with The Know Nothing Circus Side Show,
Michael James found himself deep in the dirty south of New Orleans, forced to confront his past, writing about his travels, loss of friends, and heart aches .
His music , and lyrics reflect the life led, and his life to come.
Every song is from the heart, true to its form, from its initial moment of conception.
My Graveyard Jaw has gone through many musicians , and transformations, leading up to the quintessential makeup it consists of now.
Based out of New Orleans, Louisiana, My Graveyard Jaw has played with such people as The Goddamn Gallows, Shooter Jennings, The Devil Makes Three, O' Death, Woven Hand, Slim Cessna's auto club, and Brown Bird.
Their tour line up consists of Michael James guitar and vocals, Denise Bonis on violin (member of the Zydepunks), Kiyoko McCrae and Alleyn Evans on cello. Guest appearance on past albums consist of Walt McClements of Dark Dark Dark and Alynda Lee of Hurray for the Riff Raff.
In the last four years My Graveyard Jaw has released two albums, The Road We Walked is Now Mine consisting of a lo fi infectious deep haunting basement blues, sound. In September 2010 Coming Winds a full spectrum, professionally recorded album, mastered by Piety Street Studios. Coming Winds, revealed James' vocal talent, foreshadowing the release of their upcoming album, due to release January 2013.
Their August tour is to announce their recent signing to Farmageddon Records as well as to distribute their new 5 song EP, the teaser, for their next album.
On the EP one can hear epic string sound with James' rhythmic and raw song writing ability, the song Stone of the Fifth Sun being a prime example.

I shot this in Oct. 2009. at the Spotted Cat on Frenchment Street, New Orleans.
This was the first night the Spotted was open after being closed for several months. The music is late Ernie K Doe, who owned the famous Mother in Law Lounge not far from Frenchmen. If anyone in New Orleans knows the swing dancers in the video please let them know about this video, they're great. I shot this on a Cannon 7D. with natural light.
French Quarter & Tree of Life (New Orleans, LA)
Amanda & Mike join some friends for a birthday bash in NOLA, checking out the French Quarter (Jackson Square, Bourbon Street, Frenchmen Street, and Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar [the oldest bar in the United States]) and Audobon park to see the Tree of Life (aka the Étienne de Boray Oak), a massive oak over hundreds of years old.
There's so much of New Orleans to explore and we couldn't capture everything, but we will be back!

Driving Into Downtown New Orleans at Sunset – New Orleans Louisiana
New Orleans is a major United States port and the largest city and metropolitan area in the state ofLouisiana. The population of the city was 343,829 as of the 2010 U.S. Census.[2][3] The New Orleans metropolitan area (New Orleans–Metairie–Kenner Metropolitan Statistical Area) had a population of 1,167,764 in 2010 and was the 46th largest in the United States.[4] The New Orleans–Metairie–Bogalusa Combined Statistical Area, a larger trading area, had a 2010 population of 1,452,502.[5]
The city is named after the Duke of Orleans, who reigned as Regent for Louis XV from 1715 to 1723, as it was established by French colonists and strongly influenced by their European culture. It is well known for its distinct French and Spanish Creole architecture, as well as its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage.[6] New Orleans is also famous for its cuisine, music (particularly as the birthplace of jazz),[7][8] and its annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras, dating to French colonial times. The city is often referred to as the most unique[9] in the United States.[10][11][12][13][14]
New Orleans is located in southeastern Louisiana, straddling the Mississippi River. The city and Orleans Parish (French: paroisse d'Orléans) are coterminous.[15] The city and parish are bounded by the parishes of St. Tammany to the north, St. Bernard to the east, Plaquemines to the south, and Jefferson to the south and west.[15][16][17] Lake Pontchartrain, part of which is included in the city limits, lies to the north and Lake Borgne lies to the east.[17]
Before Hurricane Katrina, Orleans Parish was the most populous parish in Louisiana. It now ranks third in population behind neighboring Jefferson Parish and East Baton Rouge Parish.[18]
