Top Things to do in Freycinet National Park, Tasmania - Australia Travel Guide
Freycinet National Park is located on the East Coast of Tasmania in Australia. You need to pay an entrance fee to visit the National Park, but there are LOADS of sights, walks and beaches to explore in the park.
We take you around the top sights - Sleepy Bay, the Lighthouse and the Wineglass Bay. You might also choose to visit the popular Honeymoon Bay (we did, but it was rainy so it never made it into the video).
Friendly Beaches is spectacular too and a visit to the Hazards at sunset is highly recommended.

Freycinet Peninsula, Tasmania
FREYCINET PENINSULA NATIONAL PARK is Tasmania's most popular and the majority of tourists come for the renowned Wineglass Bay's spectacular beauty.
But venture further and you'll be richly rewarded with more stunning coastal vistas and some world-class rock climbing.
On the east coast of Tasmania's Freycinet Peninsula, the Tasman Sea is surging, showering the granite cliffs of White Water Wall. Bob McMahon dips a hand in his chalk bag, and a puff of powder disappears into the spray. He begins to climb, moving easily, his hands and feet drawn to holds by years of familiarity.
This is my regenerative place, Bob says. On sunny days here, I think that when climbers die, this'll be the heaven they go to. If you were going to choose a climbing area to spend paradise in, this would do fine.
Thirty-three years ago Bob made the first climb on 'Beowulf', a fairly difficult route that traverses above a sea cave, on rock scratched and notched by time and tide. It was an era when the former art teacher had a virtual monopoly on new climbing routes at Freycinet, including, as an 18-year-old, the peninsula's first recorded climb in 1969 on Sow Spur.
It was always about new routes, first ascents, discovering places, he says. It was the creative side of it that really got me. It was an extension of my creative impulse. One weekend...I think we did 32 new routes in a bit over a day.
Look around Freycinet National Park, which covers the peninsula's southern tip and most of its east coast, and you could be forgiven for thinking he needn't have hurried. Although Freycinet is one of Tasmania's most popular national parks - visited by more than 200,000 people a year - few visitors see beyond the perfect curve of Wineglass Bay, a beach that's overshadowed everything else here ever since colonial times.
The view was like enchantment, author and artist Louisa Meredith wrote after visiting in 1853. Far below my giddy perch...lay, calmly slumbering in the bright sunshine, the blue and beautiful nook of the Pacific named Wineglass Bay. SUBSCRIBE: The official channel of Australian Geographic magazine.

Freycinet National Park Wineglass Bay (Tasmania, Australia)
Day 3 of 5
We start to head south from St. Helens and we are driving along the east coast. The main stop is Freycinet National Park and Wineglass Bay. Dad is walking up to the lookout point while I take my first trail run, first up to the lookout and then down to run the beach and back. It´s a total of 9.5km of running. Towards the end we head all the way down to Hobart.
Enjoy!
Ps. I really got hooked at trail running and which to do it a lot more in the future!

WINEGLASS Bay Hike ~ Freycinet Peninsula, Tasmania
Today I got up super early to explore Wineglass Bay Lookout and then hiked through to Hazards Beach, before arriving back at the carpark just as the tourist busses rocked up. I also stopped for lunch at the Bangor Wine & Oyster Shed, where I ate some delicious oysters in a beautiful outdoor setting.
See the tranquil Tasmanian beach from the lookout and enjoy the beautiful scenery from my hike. The Freycinet Peninsula was one of the real highlights of my trip over!

Wineglass Bay - Wild Tasmania Ep. 2
Wineglass Bay is a very special horseshoe shaped beach in Freycinet National Park in Tasmania. This was one of the most beautiful beaches we've seen and because you must hike into it there are very few people on it. We also hiked to the top of Mt Amos and Mt Graham on either side of Wineglass Bay. Both were incredible hikes that were well worth it!

TASMANIA's East Coast & HOBART - Windy, Wet and Lots of Wine - E9
This episode we begin to make our way down the east coast of Tasmania. Our first stop is Freycinet National Park. We are slightly disappointed as the weather prevents us from climbing Mt Amos, however, we decide to put our paces through a 11km hike instead.
From here we make our way to Port Arthur, but on the way we taste what the east of Tassie has to offer. We stop in at a few wineries and treat ourselves by starting our Tasmania Dozen.
Port Arthur also put our legs to the test before we complete a hike to Cape Hauy which involves 4.500 steps. Yep, you read that correctly.
Now its time to fall in love with Hobart all over again! We spend a few days here checking out the markets and a wooden boat festival before we make the journey to the top of Mt Wellington and decide its probably a bit to cold of a place for us to live.
