Latest Book I Love:
We moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in March and we have been publishing daily blogs every day since. We like to explore all of the best food, beaches, and things to do in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Follow us on our journey!
We write about couples travel, traveling on a mid-range budget, and living in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
→ Who are we?
Hey there! We are Greg and Hillary – a husband and wife team that loves traveling, going on adventures, and helping others do the same! Although we love traveling, at this point in time, we still have full time 9-5 jobs in Dallas, Texas.
In August of 2016, we packed up our things, Greg quit his job, and we moved to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!
Hillary is working remotely for her CPA firm and Greg is working on this site full time.
We view ourselves as fairly ordinary people, complete with an ordinary income, ordinary jobs, and (unfortunately) an ordinary amount of student loan debt (thanks UNT!).
I know what you are thinking, “Aren’t travel blogs supposed to be written by hippies that don’t have jobs and live in hostels?!” Well don’t you worry, we are working on making that happen! Although we hope to become full time travelers in the next 1-2 years, this site is not necessarily aimed at people that want to travel full time.
Our hope is not that you quit your job and become a long haired, bearded, Volkswagen van driving hippy. Instead, our hope is that after reading our stories you are more inspired to live a more fulfilling life from 5pm-9am!
Why such the emphasis on how ordinary we are? Although we love reading travel blogs, it is easy to feel disconnected from the writers at times. It seems as though they are leading such extraordinary lives that they are somehow doing something that is unreachable to the “average” person.
We are here to prove that wrong. We are here to tell you that even if you work a full-time job and only get two weeks of vacation each year-you still have the power to design an adventurous life for yourself. Afterall, that is exactly where we started before leaving it all behind to live la vida loca!
After having several caffeine induced conversations about how people should travel more and shift their priorities in a way that will lead to a more fulfilling life, we decided to share our
stories with you.
Our purpose in creating Kinetic Kennons is to share our stories of travels, adventures, and funny mishaps and to inspire others to design a life full of exploration. Throughout this site you will find posts about how to go on a cheap weekend trip, funny stories such as the time Hillary forgot to update her passport before an international trip, and inspirational rants on why you should lead a more adventurous life!
A Tour of Frida Kahlo’s Blue House – La Casa Azul
‘People are present in the things they choose to have around them during their life,’ says Hayden Herrera, Frida Kahlo’s biographer, discussing the vibrant blue Casa Azul — the Mexico City house where the artist was born, spent much of her life and, in 1954, passed away.

There are so many Frida Kahlo (and Diego Rivera!) sites to visit and see in and around Mexico City that it can be a bit dizzying. I've put together a list of the top ones to check out, including a bonus spot outside of Mexico City in Rivera's hometown of Guanajuato. Begin your sightseeing tour at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in the Zocalo where you can see Frida's first self-portrait from when she was only 19-years-old. If you only have time for one stop, or only wish to visit one museum, then make it Museo Frida Kahlo also known as Casa Azul. Located in Coyoacán, this is Frida's childhood home where she lived a lot of her life and also died. You'll find many of her personal belongings like art supplies, furniture, and clothing as well as some of her art. It's a very busy site so make sure to buy your tickets online in advance to avoid waiting in a really long line! Just around the corner is the Trotsky Museum which feels very raw. Frida and Trotsky had an affair when he and his wife lived at Casa Azul. You can see bullet holes in the bedroom wall from an assassination attempt as well as the study where he was ultimately killed with an icepick to the skull. Another site is Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo located in San Ángel. These modern and distinct structures were built by architect Juan O'Gorman and occupied by the couple from 1934. Diego lived here until his death. I also really enjoyed visiting Museo Dolores Olmedo in Xochimilco, even though all of Frida's artwork was on tour abroad at an exhibition. Dolores Olmedo was a patron of the arts, notably of Diego Rivera's, and she donated her large collection to the people of Mexico. The museum is her old home, a sixteenth century hacienda. I especially loved seeing the many peacocks on the grounds and the unique breed of hairless dogs that live there called Xoloitzcuintli (or Xolo for short). The next museum wouldn't exist without the generosity of Dolores Olmedo: the Anahuacalli Museum. Frida and Diego were passionate about ancient Mexico and preserving that history for future generations. This museum has over fifty thousand pre-Columbian artifacts housed in a pyramid-like structure made of volcanic rock. The last site is a bonus because it's located in Guanajuato (an easy bus ride from Mexico City): Museo y Casa Diego Rivera. This is where Rivera was born and lived until he was six when his family moved to Mexico City. You can see a lot of his early artwork here as well as a painting of Frida Kahlo.
I hope you enjoy this video and find it helpful! Please let me know if you've been to any of these places or would like to!

Arriving into Mexico City and visiting the Frida Kahlo Museum || MEXICO CITY TRAVEL VLOG
In this video we are flying into Mexico City, Mexico from Calgary, Canada.
On our first full day in Mexico City, or Ciudad de México in Spanish, often abbreviated to just CDMX, we visited the National Museum of Anthropology (Museo nacional de anthropologia). On our second day we spent the afternoon visiting the beautiful Frida Kahlo museum, also known as the Blue House or La Casa Azul.
Both of these days exploring the City of Mexico were amazing, we absolutely loved being able to travel Mexico City.
We really wanted to create a Mexico vlog you would enjoy, luckily for you our first two days were packed with such great experiences. We had great weather, we learned a lot of interesting information and saw some beautiful artworks and historical artefacts.
We are WANDERWALKERS, Australian travel vloggers, Kayleigh June and Daniel Walker. We are currently on a three and a half month trip around world.

A tour from the front door to the exit of Frida and Diego's Casa Azul. I did several of the rooms in panorama, stitching together 3 - 7 pictures to create the panorama's.
Her kitchen, studio, etc are like they were left yesterday. It was quite an incredible place to visit. Now I want to see more of her art.

Frida Kahlo Museum in Coyoacan in Mexico City
This is a very interesting, informative, and a classic museum which is a must for anyone visiting Mexico City, or anyone interested in Art History. Since it is designed around the home where she once lived, it gives more credence and insight to the life that she and Diego Rivera lived. Lots to see and enjoy, and certainly deserve to be on everyone's list. Plan your visit.
