A Tourist's Guide to Nuku'alofa, Tonga
Part 5 of my South Pacific Trip.
After a night in an airport hotel in Fiji, I jet off to the Kingdom of Tonga. The capital, Nuku'alofa is a sleepy town with a fair smattering of palm trees, foraging pigs and piglets and plenty of (friendly) stray dogs. There's also some big fruit bats.
My full day in Tonga happened to be a Sunday, a day where everything closes except for the churches. So I visit one and listen to some singing before catching a ferry over to Pangaimotu Island.
TONGA, EXPLORING its scenic capital of NUKU'ALOFA, what to see (Pacific Ocean)
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's go for a walk along Tonga's beautiful capital, the city of Nuku'alofa and let's visit the most interesting and historic sites. I will describe every site as we pass it along the walk, let's do it!! Enjoy!!
Nukuʻalofa is the capital of Tonga. It is located on the north coast of the island of Tongatapu, in the country's southernmost island group.
Tonga is a Polynesian kingdom of more than 170 South Pacific islands, many uninhabited, most lined in white beaches and coral reefs and covered with tropical rainforest. The main island, Tongatapu, is protected by lagoons and limestone cliffs. It’s home to the rural capital of Nuku'alofa, as well as beach resorts, plantations and the Ha'amonga ʻa Maui, a monumental coral gate from the 1200s.

Highlights of traveling Tonga for 2 weeks!! This affordable tropical island travel/vacation destination in the South Pacific is ideal for single travelers looking to go somewhere off the beaten path, as well as families who want to avoid the mass of tourists in most other tropical destinations. Amazing culture, friendly people, stunning scenery and a laid back vibe are what you can expect from Tonga! The island nation is one of the most underrated in the South Pacific. I cannot recommend it enough! If you are looking for a true authentic Polynesian experience, please consider Tonga! Swimming with Humpback Whales was the highlight of our trip. The feeling of locking eyes with these massive yet majestic creatures is something that I'll never be able to put into words. On our trip we went to 3 of the 4 island groups in Tonga (Tongatapu, Ha'apai and Vava'u). We spent 3 days in Tongatapu, 4 in Ha'apai and 8 in Vava'u.

Walking Around Nukualofa In Tonga
Tongan Royal Family in Nuku'alofa---2018 UPDATE---
Tonga was united under King George Tupou I in 1875, who then created the first formal government and the coat of arms. At the bottom of the coat of arms, inscribed on a scroll, is Tonga's national motto: KO E 'OTUA MO TONGA KO HOKU TOFI'A (God and Tonga is my inheritance).
The name of this video’s background music Ko e Moto 'o e Fonua ni refers to the national motto. Traditionally Tonga's Royal Family is regarded as Tonga's heavenly legacy.

HM Tupou VI Visit 1st Oct 19 Abu Dhabi, UAE
HM King Tupou VI arrived for a morning visit to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. Accompanying him on the visit was H.R.H Her Excellency The Princess Angelika Latufuipeka Tuku'aho and ambassadors from the other Tongan Diplomatic missions.
The largest in the country, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was launched by the late president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who wanted to establish a structure that would unite the cultural diversity of the Islamic world with the historical and modern values of architecture and art. His final resting place is located on the grounds adjacent to the complex.
HM King Tupou IV was given an informative and insightful look into the influence of Islamic history on its design and architecture. HRH and other women in the delegation donned shaila and abaya for the special visit.
The next stop was the Louvre Abu Dhabi in Saadiyat. The delegation enjoyed a swift entry through the 12 galleries that describe the ‘Story of Humanity’. The works on show range from prehistoric artefacts to contemporary artworks.
The eventful and informative morning was welcomed as it gave more than just insight, it helped provide substance for the Embassy opening and launch here in the UAE.
