Friendship Beach runs the length of Phuket Island’s Chalong to Rawai section on the southeast coast. Though not facing west, when the sun sets, the skies can be spectacular, like all over Thailand, but especially from island beaches like Friendship Beach. Views of the smaller surrounding islands like Koh Lone and Koh Hee (Coral Island) make this a spectacular spot to eat dinner if you’re on the east side.
What Can You Do on Friendship Beach?
This is the best beach on Phuket for kitesurfing and windsurfing. The usually calm waters and high winds can send surfers flying through the air in dazzling aerial escapades. If there isn’t any wind on the day you’re there, rent a stand-up paddle board instead. Don’t like the water? OK, there’s horse riding instead! Phuket Riding Club is not far. You can book a two-hour horseback ride over the sand for less than 1,500 THB. Something for everyone at Friendship Beach.
This beach is a jumping off point for tourists taking half and full-day tours and charters for snorkeling, diving, fishing, and cruises to some of the close-by islands.
The dry sand, and sand under the water is covered with strong, sharp shells and rocks. Not a great spot for swimming or for kids to play at. Most visitors enjoy a walk along the beach, or fall asleep on their beach mats.
Friendship Beach Phuket is not usually crowded, as the only visitors are tourists staying at the resorts located on or close to the beach. Friendship Beach Resort is a nice place to stay, and the rumor is that they have some of the most delicious hamburgers in Southern Thailand.

THE STAFF AT THE VIJITT WERE VERY GOOD AT CLEANING MY FOOT WOUND AFTER I STOOD ON A BROKEN BOTTLE - JAN 2016
