After 6 years and a lot of labor, the Del Dotto family has finally unveiled the latest in their winemaking and hospitality endeavors in Napa Valley. Dave Del Dotto raises the bar with this magnificent facility, outfitted with custom creations from Florence, beautiful gardens, a state of the art kitchen, and everything else you need to be transported from Napa Valley to Italy. With Chef Joshua Harris guiding the food team, I was taken on a culinary journey with my friends Charles and Darla through 5 courses and 5 wines. We sipped and ate outside on the patio that bears breathtaking vineyard views behind palatial columns. Piazza brings the food and wine experience to a new level here, offering options at varying price points, and allowing for vegetarian substitutions. Before we depart, Dave reminds us to check out Peacocks, chickens, and turkeys that put the icing on this beautiful cake.

Located in the beautiful Napa Valley, Del Dotto Family Wineries & Caves focus on small production, premium wines. Dave Del Dotto has spent the past 25 years acquiring vineyards in some of the best American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) including Rutherford, Oakville, St. Helena, Howell Mountain, and Fort Ross-Seaview Sonoma Coast. Currently, our family produces cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, sangiovese and sauvignon blanc from our Napa Valley vineyards, as well as pinot noir, chardonnay and limited amounts of syrah, sauvignon blanc, sparkling grenache and mourvedre from our Cinghiale (wild boar) Vineyard in the King Ridge region of the Sonoma Coast.

While the wines are our masterpiece, a great party must have world-class food that brings the wine to life. Our executive chef Joshua Schwartz, formerly of The French Laundry, Per Se, Bouchon and Bouley, has also been with our family for more than a decade and his inspired cuisine has become one of the focal points of our events.
From house-cured salumi and slow braised meats to vegetables from our garden and Grandma Dee’s handmade ravioli, Chef Joshua and the entire culinary team collaborate on a unique menu that embodies the season and pairs perfectly with the wines.

What I Drank Yesterday Chappellet Wine Dinner
This is the second winery established in Napa Valley after prohibition after Robert Mondavi winery and the first up on the hill, Pritchard Hill that is. It is always good to see Cyril Chappellet and this was a special night with five vintages of their top wine, the Pritchard Hill Cabernet Sauvignon. This is the most expensive dirt in Napa Valley today and everyone else on the hill are double or triple the price of this wine making it the best value in $150+ Cabernet Sauvignon made up on the hill.
