SJI Seniors batch 2017 goes to Taiwan for an educational field trip. Went to popular tourist spots and theme parks. Their street food were amazing! Found cheaper clothes & shoes than in the Philippines. There was air-conditioner everywhere in Taiwan since it's still winter season. Our overall trip was full of excitement! (I say this, but there will inevitably be comments asking what this is from sigh people who read the descriptions are highly underrated i appreciate yall)
All translations are mine, please take out with credit. This song was actually incredibly difficult to translate, because many references to ancient chinese literature/stories/poems were made and it's literally impossible to translate them in full. My mom was like whoever wrote this song must be very well educated lmao so I've done my best (being not as well educated in chinese literature)

TRANSLATION NOTES:
???? 神武悦: i translated as Shenwu festival because shenwu is actually not martial god (wushen/flip the characters); it's the name of jun wu's temple. the last character, 'yue' is a reference to 悦神 (pleased god), which is what xie lian was dressed as during the parade where he first met hua cheng. however, it doesn't make sense here, so i just did what i could
???? 蓝田日暖玉生烟 oh boy oh boy. a literal translation: lantian jade warmed by the sun emits smoke. i've translated it as (you are) unequivocally selfless and good. why? because (brief chinese lit lesson) this is from a chinese classical story in which man helps a ton of people/gets rewarded by a god with jade seeds that grow white jade/is advised to keep it for himself but still insists on giving all the jade away to help the poor. in a nutshell. the song lyric is a reference to a poem (which is reference to later part of the story) but i chose to translate it as such bc i interpreted it as comparing xie lian to the man who helped everybody else at the cost of having nothing for himself (as was xie lian's backstory)
???? 厄命/hardship-filled life: the song actually references hua cheng's cute lil saber here (e-ming) but i translated it literally (life filled with adversity)
???? 红袖添香/red-sleeved beauty: another idiom? phrase? that's actual meaning is something like 'reading with the company of a beauty at night' but tbh i think they picked this idiom bc it goes with the red theme with hua cheng (first two characters: hong xiu/red sleeve) and also it happened to fit hc + xl adventures together

if you've seen my other tgcf video you'll notice that a lot of the dialogue (dialogue in this case) overlaps! but that's because those are the most Iconic lines (i am your most loyal follower sOBS)
this is the first tgcf song i ever found so it has some special meaning to me, which is why i chose to translate it. it's basically a love song from hua cheng's pov to xie lian, and tells the tale of when they first met to the end of tgcf
I LOVE HUALIAN hualian is literally the epitome of love hhhnnnghghg im about to get into volume 4 and i can feel the pain already (i had such a hard time reading volume 2 hngh)

Pan Hong-min, a young college graduate from Hualien, participated in a Muay Thai kickboxing tournament in China. He shocked many by knocking out a professional Japanese competitor in less than one minute, later placing third place in the tournament. At the moment, Pan still needs to work a job so he can’t dedicate all of his time to training. Also, he’s finding it hard to pay for a trip to Thailand for a World Muay Thai Championship in August. This stout young man, Pan Hong-min hails from Hualien. He has recently made a name for himself in Muay Thai kickboxing as he scored a first round knockout of a professional Japanese competitor in a Chinese tournament.Pan Hong-minThis first round knockout came after a right hand and then a hook which landed and knocked him out and he couldn’t be revived.Pan is a graduate from National Dong Hwa University’s Department of Physical Education. In his first year of junior high school he began studying taekwondo, and as a sophomore in college he found his skills were better suited to Muay Thai kickboxing. He would spend the next two years studying this discipline and did well in national competitions. In August he plans to travel to Thailand to attend the World Muay Thai championship.Pan Hong-minKickboxerThe biggest problem is money because this is not a commercial competition as there are no ticket sales.
