Daoist monk Zhou, Xuan-Yun (Mysterious Cloud), grew up in a temple on Wudang Mountain, China where he was a student and later an instructor of Taiji and Kung Fu. He belongs to the Orthodox Unity sect of Daoism, and is trained in ritual arts, chanting, divination, and internal alchemy. He is formally recognized as a disciple of Li Guang Fu 李光富 Head Daoist monk on Wudang Mountain (武当山道教协会会长), and he is dedicated to teaching the traditional arts in classes around the world. Mountainous Scenic Spot Reopens After Temporary Closure in Northeast China
The Tianchi Lake scenic area in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, northeast China's Jilin Province, reopened to tourists by Sunday morning at 09:30 as the winds died down.
Tianchi Lake is one of the most welcomed scenic spots on the Changbai Mountain. It was temporarily closed on Saturday due to the blizzardy weather in the area.

These are the traditional village martial arts of Meishan Island. Meishan is a large island of the coast of Ningbo on the very southern edge of the Zhoushan archipelago.
The people of these islands were mainly poor fishermen surviving off the sea.
However as a large group of islands, spits and sandbars of all descriptions located directly in and around the mouth of the Yangtze river, the main highway connecting the vast interior of China with coastal provinces and foreign trade routes, the area was a major hotbed of smuggling and piracy throughout much of china's history.
This brought economic benefits to the local people who were able to participate in the international commerce to an extent through working as smugglers.
However it also brought great dangers. The first from the government on the level of the individuals working as smugglers who faced the death penalty if caught as well as occasional crackdowns on whole communities. The second from the pirates who often used the islands as their base and depending on season, what work they could find, prices on various goods, and many other factors all the way down to simple person whims could alternate, sometimes suddenly from domestic or foreign merchants buying or selling illegal goods or attempting to evade customs, all the way to heavily armed raiding parties pillaging and burning entire communities.
Because of this the practice of martial arts and the organization of village militias, private militias, and other armed groups looking to protect various local interests became widespread throughout the region.
The port of Ningbo on the mainland directly adjacent to Meishan island was hit especially hard by pirates multiple times. As a result it was the site where general Qi Jiguang was sent to train local farmers into an effective fighting force.
Even before Qi's arrival Ningbo was home to a thriving martial community and records remain recounting anecdotes about various famous local boxing teachers as far back as Qi's period.
*The Meishan Quan style of Meishan island should not be confused with the unrelated Meishan Quan style of Loudi prefecture in Hunan province.

An opera troupe from Shaoxing (绍兴/紹興) in Zhejiang province (浙江省), China (中国/中國) presents 'Journey to the West' (西遊記/西游记/Xī Yóu Jì) featuring Sun Wukong the Monkey King (孙悟空/孫悟空) during the 8th Taiwan-Jejang Cultural Festival (Shau Shing Culture Festival) at National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (國立國父紀念館) in Taipei City (臺北市/台北市), Taiwan (臺灣/台灣) on Thursday, June 12, 2014.
'Journey to the West' is a Chinese novel published in the 16th century (c. 1592) during the Ming Dynasty (明朝/大明帝国/大明帝國) and attributed to Wu Cheng'en (吴承恩/吳承恩). It is one of the Four Great Classical Novels (四大名著) of Chinese literature. In English-speaking countries, the work is widely known as Monkey, the title of Arthur Waley's popular abridged translation.
The novel is an extended account of the legendary pilgrimage of the Tang dynasty (唐朝) Buddhist monk Xuanzang (Hsuan-tsang/玄奘) who traveled to the Western Regions (Xiyu/Hsi-yu/西域) , that is India to obtain sacred texts (sūtras) and returned after many trials and much suffering. It retains the broad outline of Xuanzang's own account, Great Tang Records on the Western Regions (Xiyu/Hsi-yu/西域) but the Ming dynasty novel adds elements from folk tales and the author's invention, that is, that the Buddha gave this task to the monk and provided him with three protectors who agree to help him as an atonement for their sins. These disciples are Sun Wukong (the Monkey King/孙悟空/孫悟空/Tôn Ngộ Không/เห้งเจีย/行者/손오공/そん ごくう/Sun Gokong/Sun Go Kong), Zhu Bajie or Zhu Wuneng (猪八戒/豬八戒/Pigsy/Pig), and Sha Wujing (沙悟净/沙悟凈), together with a dragon prince who acts as Xuanzang's steed, a white horse.
Sun Wukong, the Monkey King is the main character in Journey to the West. Sun Wukong is also found in many later stories and adaptations. In the novel, he is a monkey born from a stone who acquires supernatural powers through Taoist practices. After rebelling against heaven and being imprisoned under a mountain by the Buddha, he later accompanies the monk Xuanzang on a journey to retrieve Buddhist sutras from India.
Shaoxing has long been a hotbed of Chinese cultural activity, producing such luminary figures as Wang Xizhi, Zhou Enlai, Lu Xun, and Cai Yuanpei. Its local variety of Chinese opera sung in the local dialect and known as Shaoxing opera (绍兴剧) or Yue Ju (越剧) is second in popularity only to Peking or Beijing opera (京剧/京劇). Notable actors of Yue Ju are Yuan Xuefen (袁雪芬), Wang Wenjuan (王文娟), Fu Quanxiang (傅全香), Lu Ruiying, Zhang Yunxia, Jin Caifeng, Qi Yaxian, Bi Chunfang, Fan Ruijuan, Yin Guifang, Xu Yulan, Lu Jinhua, Zhu Shuizhao and Zhao Zhigang, among others.
Yue Ju opera was founded around 1906 in Shengzhou in Zhejiang province. It is highly popular in Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Fujian, while its audiences are all over China and Chinese-speaking regions around the world.
