Caleta de Fuste is the largest community in the municipality of Antigua, Las Palmas, Spain on the island of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands.
Caleta de Fuste is frequented by a variety of tourists and has numerous hotels, shops, boutiques, bars, cafes, and restaurants on or near the beaches. In the main harbour is a castle built as a martello tower by the military engineer Claudio de Lisne in 1743.
In addition to Caleta de Fuste beach activities, local recreation includes sailing, diving, windsurfing, and scuba exploration. The ocean waters in the area are known for their dolphin and turtle populations. A weekly trade fair at Caleta de Fuste is known for having some of the best deals on leather goods. In this video I show the marina, the beaches, shops, restaurants, bars, some of the hotels and the golf courses. I also talk a bit about what Costa Caleta was like in 1987 when I first stayed there.

First I show the Caleta de Fuste marina area which is one of the nicest parts of the resort I think.
After that the video covers the two Caleta de Fuste beaches - Castillo beach and Atlantico beach. Both beaches are completely artificial. The sand has been imported to create what I would describe as a beach theme area rather than a beach. They are without a doubt the worst beaches on Fuerteventura, but some people seem to love them. Each to their own I guess. What do you think of Caleta de Fuste beach?
I then show some of the Caleta de Fuste town centre commercial areas starting with Castillo Central. I cover the shops in Caleta de Fuste with some of the bars and restaurants in Caleta de Fuste too. I couldn't really show the Caleta de Fuste nightlife in this video. Another day perhaps.
There are too many hotels in Caleta de Fuste to cover in one video but I do show the Barcelo Fuerteventura and the Hotel Elba Carlota.
This is followed by a quick look at the Fuerteventura golf courses - first the Fuerteventura Golf Resort, which is a championship course where the Spanish Open took place in 2004. Then I show the Golf Club Salinas de Antigua which is the public course.
I finish the video by going to the top of Chipmunk Mountain and show some general views of the area.

The villa is located in a very quiet and peaceful location, and is only 10 Minutes’ walk to Golf and Beach. The villa is a short distance from the small holiday resort of Caleta de Fuste. Shops and restaurants are also conveniently nearby at the local Atlantico Commercial Centre. The villa is just 10 minutes’ walk from the 5 Star Elba Palace Golf Hotel and Golf Club, offering a wide variety of services. The villa is furnished and equipped to accommodate 6 persons. The villa is beautifully appointed throughout, with top quality furnishings used. An outside staircase leads to a large fully tiled sun terrace on the first floor, offering a 360° view taking in the golf course, the local mountains, the Atlantic Ocean and you can even see the local yacht marina in the distance. The villa is full of character and offers a very comfortable living space which is screened to all sides offering maximum privacy. We'll make your next villa holiday the best holiday you've taken!
Atlantico Shopping Centre: At the entrance to the golf course resort {10 min. walk from the villa} you will find the new Atlantico Shopping Centre, which offers a variety of restaurants, bars, cafes, a large supermarket, a cinema, a bowling alley, and charming up market shops. You will also find a large 'Spar' supermarket which will cater for all your food requirements.
There are restaurants and bars overlooking the promenade and sea, with a pizza restaurant and a burger bar for snacks. There is a small games/entertainment area for the children and a ¾ length bowling alley (with a bar) for the whole family. There is a multiplex cinema too but as yet all films are shown in Spanish only.
Caleta de Fuste is built around a horseshoe shaped bay, and the golden sandy beach is ideal for family holidays. Caleta de Fuste is rich in character, and offers a wide variety of entertainment, and fun areas for small children. On Saturday mornings there is a Market offering a wide variety of souvenirs which are rich in African culture. There are a wide variety of excursions available at Caleta de Fuste, including trips to the endless beaches in the South, the sand dunes in the North, La Lajita Zoo and Botanical Garden, camel rides, water park, catamaran and boat fishing trips, to mention but a few.
Fuerteventura Airport is approximately 8 km away. A free shuttle bus service is available daily between the golf club, the commercial centre and Caleta de Fuste. This runs every half hour up to 10pm. The taxi service on the island is efficient and very reasonably priced. You can arrange a taxi from the Airport to the golf resort, for 15 Euro {approximately}. As a result car hire is not strictly necessary. However we would recommend hiring a car for part, if not all of your stay.
