Yamanashi prefecture newly established the South Hall as “Yamanashi Prefectural Fujisan World Heritage Center, which opened in June 2016. The center takes the lead in providing information on Fujisan’s outstanding universal value to many people visiting the World Heritage site Fujisan, and in preserving and managing the Site.

Today we are taking a trip to Fuji-Q Highland in Fujiyoshida, Japan. This is one of the best them parks in Japan, and sits at the base of Fuji-San (Mt. Fuji). Fuji-Q Highland has some of the most amazing roller-coasters in the world, and at one point held several world records. Besides the high-flying rides, there are plenty of things to do for the whole family.

Ryan Takes Japan - EPISODE 5 - FUJIYOSHIDA
This is the fifth episode chronicling my adventures abroad in Japan and Vietnam in September and October 2017. A longer installment but a goodie.
Fujiyoshida is a small town around the base of Mt. Fuji. I had the pleasure of staying at Michael's American Pub and Hostel during my stay. Much thanks to Michael and his wife, who were so generous and welcoming.
I spent time exploring nearby Lake Kawaguchiko, doing some hiking, and making sure to get great photos and video of Mt. Fuji itself. One of my favorite stops on my Japan journey.

Hiking Mount Fuji is a must have experience for every tralveler, especially every hiker who visits Japan. Watching the sunrise above the clouds is a soul revealing moment.
Mount Fuji, located on Honshū, is the highest mountain in Japan at 3,776.24 m (12,389 ft), 2nd-highest peak of an island (volcanic) in Asia, and 7th-highest peak of an island in the world. It is an active stratovolcano that last erupted in 1707–1708.
Mount Fuji lies about 100 kilometers (60 mi) south-west of Tokyo, and can be seen from there on a clear day. Mount Fuji's exceptionally symmetrical cone, which is snow-capped for about 5 months a year, is a well-known symbol of Japan.
Mount Fuji is one of Japan's Three Holy Mountains along with Mount Tate and Mount Haku. It is also a Special Place of Scenic Beauty and one of Japan's Historic Sites. It was added to the World Heritage List as a Cultural Site on June 22, 2013.

Day 1 in Japan - Kawaguchico - Chureito Pagoda - Five Lakes District
Day 1 on my Japan journey didn't start so well. I didn't get any sleep, I was stalked by night monkeys and I walked until my feet bled.
I did get to climb up hundreds of stairs to see the famous Chureito Pagoda in the Kawaguchico Five Lakes district.
Of course I then had to fly around it.
Iconic pagoda on a hilltop facing Mt. Fuji in Arakurayama Sengen Park, reached via 398 steps.

Must See! Kawaguchiko Lake Experience
Lake Kawaguchiko (河口湖) is the most easily accessible of the Fuji Five Lakes with train and direct bus connections to Tokyo. A hot spring resort town with various tourist attractions and views of Mount Fuji is located around the lake's eastern end, while the northern and western shores are mostly undeveloped.
The best views of Mount Fuji can be enjoyed from the lake's northern shores and are particularly breathtaking during the cherry blossom season around mid April and the autumn colors around the first half of November. One of the nicest spots for cherry blossoms is the seaside promenade near the Kawaguchiko Music Forest, while photographers will enjoy the Momiji Tunnel for autumn colors, a maple tree covered road section along the lake's northern shore.
