Fukiya Furusato Village in Okayama | JAPAN Forward
Once a flourishing town thanks to copper mining, this mountain village was famous as a major producer of vivid red “Bengara” color pigment made from oxidized iron. Fukiya Furusato Village, known for the uniform red color of its buildings, a color rarely produced even in Japan, has earned recognition as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.

吹屋の町並みは赤かった。
優しい味のお昼ご飯を食べてから、街を散策しました。
古い町並みは、そんなに長い距離があるわけではありませんが、なんかいい感じです。
静かでした。
観光客は何人かやってきていましたが、混雑することなく、かといって寂しいわけでもなく。
ほっとしますね。
町並みから少し外れたところに、吹屋小学校があります。
木造の、これまたいい感じの学校です。
国内最古の木造校舎なんですって。
あたしが小学校の時、こんな感じの校舎だったような気がする。
都会のど真ん中だったので、もっと大きかったんですけどね。
でも、都会過ぎてドーナッツ化現象で子供が少ないのでそこそこの大きさでしたが。
この吹屋小学校、あたしが訪れた年の3月で廃校になっちゃってました。
ほんの一ヶ月ほど前に廃校になったということです。
なので、まだ寂びれた感じはしてなくて、すぐにでも児童を受け入れることができそうでした。
町並みにある、べんがら屋は、おみやげ屋さんでした。
ベンガラについてよくわかるような資料館みたいなものは、この町並みに他にはありません。
なので、結局ベンガラについてはよくわからなかったのです。
After eating Inaka-soba to lunch, we have stroll the town of the Fukiya.
Fukiya town has old townscapes.
It is not a long distance.
However, the atmosphere is calm and quiet.
And red color.
Some tourists had come this town.
However, it is not congestion.
Fukiya elementary school is located out of the main street.
Is the old wooden school building.
There are quaint.
It was closed down about one month before I visited.

一か月前に岡山県の高梁市に赴任した私は、これまでに地域の様々な祭りへの参加や観光地を訪れました。
この動画「旅への誘い」のため、製作しており、高梁をはじめ「晴れの国」を巡っていただいたら、嬉しいです。

Since I settled Takahashi in the prefecture of Okayama one month ago, I was able to take part in some local festivals and visited several tourist spots.
This video is meant as an “invitation to the voyage”, starting off with Takahashi and all around the “sunny country”. I would be very pleased if some viewers wanted to visit the region after watching the video !
