Here is a video of my hike down to Fukugawa Falls & some extra footage I recorded throughout the day. I hope you enjoy!

Maybe one of the most beautiful places on Okinawa, this waterfall lies in the very remote part of Nago City. It is probably one of the least known waterfalls on Okinawa.

While the hike in is possible on the dedicated trails that offer a great 20-30 minute walk through the forest with some stairs and steeper sections. There is also a great river walk as long as you don't mind a few spider webs and some wet slippery rocks.

Fukugawa waterfall has a nice size swimming lagoon and a small cave behind the falls to explore and cool off at the end of the trek. Just be sure to bring enough water and sensible hiking shoes as there are no shops or phone service in the valley.

Photographing Fukugawa Falls in Northern Okinawa, Japan

Fukugawa Falls is a natural attraction in the Northern regions of the Japanese Island of Okinawa. Located in the jungles just a short drive North of the town of Nago it requires about a ten to 15minute hike into the dense green forests known as the Yanbaru. Pay attention on the walk in as this is very much the realm of the Habu Pit Vipers that are found on the island, any one of the three of which if it bites could ruin your day!

This short video shows simply how I go about creating long exposure imagery of the water features to accomplish that silky liquid effect that landscape photographers so often use. You will need tour lens of choice and two filters. Firstly a circular polariser to help eliminate any glare from the wet rocks and also an ND filter preferably with a minimum density of 64 that corresponds to a six stop filter. This way even if I was shooting in bright sunlight I should be able to attain the minimum shutter of 1second to start getting pleasing results.

Fukugawa Falls

Took another day to explore the Nago area of Okinawa, Japan. Got completely lost trying to get to this one. But we eventually made it and it was a nice little waterfall. Not spectacular by any means, but a short little hike to a nice peaceful place you can sit down and enjoy. Song is “I Get Around” by The Beach Boys. Enjoy.

Japan: Remnants of crashed US Osprey aircraft collected in Nago

The remnants of the US MV-22 Osprey aircraft that crash landed close to the Okinawa coast were salvaged by military personnel off the coast of Nago on Wednesday. The crash took place the night before, injuring the five crew members on board.

Initial investigation suggests that the crash was caused by an oil duct problem whilst crew members were refueling mid-air. The US reportedly holds two Osprey squadrons in Japanese territory and has grounded the rest of its fleet following the incident.

Day Trip - Maeda Point, Pineapple Park...Okinawa, Japan (Cinematic)

Day Trip to Maeda Point for some oceanside hot-tubing (really just a natural pool formation) then off to Nago city in Okinawa, Japan. There we visited Pineapple Park. They have everything pineapple related that you can think of. From wine to toys they have it all.
