Tsuruga Castle aka Aizu-Wakamatsu Castle is one of the most popular sights in Fukushima. It withstood attacks during the Boshin civil war and houses a museum informing about the history of the city. All descriptions are available in English as well, so no need to worry. The observation deck provides a breathtaking view of the region, even until Iimoriyama, the hill where young soldiers took their lives out of honour to their lord. The museum shop sells souvenirs typical to the region, such as akabeko, a toy in form of a red cow.

Salvador Dali Museum in Japan + Drawing Timelapses [Urabandai, Fukushima] [ Travel Vlog]
Tokyo and other major tourist destinations are super crowded during the busy Golden Week Holidays in early May, so we tried to get away from the hustle and bustle by going to the mountains. We went to the Salvador Dali Museum in Japan (Morohashi Museum of Modern Art), the Goshikinuma Youth Hostel and the Goshikinuma trail in Urabandai, Fukushima.
It turned out to also be busy. Despite the business, the area was very relaxing.
Urabandai is in the Bandai-Asahi National Park, located between Aizu and Koriyama, Fukushima prefecture. In the area is the restored Tsuruga Castle (Tsurugajo), Kitakata (of ramen fame), Lake Inawashiro (the 4th largest lake in Japan), as well as Mt. Bandai, an active stratovolcano.

Morimori Ramen is located across from the Bandai-Toto Bus Goshikinuma Iriguchi bus stop. We highly recommend it, especially the karaage and chicken strips.

How to get there without a car:
From Inawashiro Station or Aizuwakamatsu Station, take the Bandai Toto Bus.
Confirm with the driver first that the bus goes to Urabandai, goshikinuma or Morohashi Bijutsukan.

Spiffy Places to See in Japan: Aizu Fukushima Part 1
My Trip In March to Aizu of Fukushima Prefecture.
Myself and Coworker Joel decided to road trip it north for a weekend of Onsen and Sightseeing. In this video we visit the Okawa Onsen Resort, Ouchijuku (old trading post town) and Aizu Castle.
To get to Aizu the best way is to rent a car but you need a international or Japanese license to do it. Car rentals are cheap, usually ranging from 70-100$ a day including gas and Freeway tolls. We personally like to use NicoNico Rent a car.
Fukishima is in dire need of tourism money since the 2011 earthquake so I encourage everyone to go, we had a great time, helped support the local community and enjoyed the sights and nature of the area. We at no time felt unsafe and didnt sweat the radiation issue. We didnt want that to stop us from having a good time and doing what we can to help stimulate the local economy.

Japanese castle projection mapping! Tsuruga Castle, Aizu, Fukushima
Tsuruga Castle Projection Mapping
With a motif of new blossoms in Fukushima as a symbol of recovery, in 2012 a new technique known as illumination mapping turns Tsuruga Castle into a hopeful symbol of a bright future. Projection mapping gained great fame in Japan after shows at Tōkyō Station and other such famous spots, and Tsuruga was the first Japanese castle to host such a show. Well over 10,000 spectators came to watch on March 9th and 10th.
Aizu Picture Candle Festival
This festival in early February each year features the region's traditional picture candles. It was created in 2000 by the Aizu Junior Chamber for this tradition to be more widely known. Continuing after the 2011 earthquake, this year's is now the 14th iteration. 10,000 candles light up Tsuruga Castle in an enchanting scene.

World's Only! Mysterious building Aizu Sazaedo～世界唯一！不思議な建物「会津さざえ堂」
In Aizu Wakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, there is the only wooden double helical structure building in the world. It is Aizu Sazaedo, built in 1796. The interior has slopes, with the uphill and the downhill as separate passages so that people do not pass each other. It seems as if they are walking in different dimensions. As a mysterious spot in Fukushima, the number of foreign tourists is also increasing recently.

Yokozuna Museum
Yokozuna Museum terletak hanya di beberapa ratus meter kebawah jalan dari museum terowongan. Ini didedikasikan untuk dua pesumo lokal, Chyonoyama dan Chiyonofuji. Chiyonoyama merupakan pesumo yang terkuat setelah perang Jepang, yang cepat naik ke tingkat tertinggi dari yokozuna. Muridnya Chiyonofuji yang paling ringan di yokozuna pada masa modern, tetapi juga merupakan salah satu yang paling kuat, sukses dan dicintai.

ไปเที่ยวชมใบไม้แดงบริเวณทะเลสาบโกชิคินุมะ (Goshikinuma) ตั้งอยู่ในอุทยานแห่งชาติ Bandai-Asahi ในแถบ Urabandai เมือง Hibara หมู่บ้าน Kita-Shiobara จังหวัด Fukushima บริเวณนี้มีทั้งทะเลสาบ พร้อมบึงน้อยใหญ่ บ่อน้ำพุร้อนอีกหลายแห่ง ที่เกิดการจากระเบิดของภูเขาไฟ Bandai เมื่อในอดีต และแร่ธาตุต่างๆ ในดินทำให้เกิดเป็นสีของน้ำ ที่สะท้อนกับแสงแดดมีหลายสีสัน คนญี่ปุ่นจึงเรียกที่นี่ว่า Goshikinuma หรือบึงน้ำห้าสีค่ะ
