Japanese Diorama of Small Edo-Period Village Fukuyama Town famous for Black Vinegar (Kurozu)
This is the diorama of Fukuyama Village during Edo-Period.
This is exhibited in the Kurozu museum in Fukuyama Town, Kirishima City.
It is very important for Japanese black vinegar (Kurozu) to be produced in the place where water is clean, because water is crucial for the production.
Japanese black vinegar is good for health. It is good for diabetes, going on a diet, and heart disease.

In Tomonoura Town, located at the southern end of Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, visitors can experience a traditional, Japanese port town.
The old town center has many breathtaking alleys, decorated by rustic houses with wooden facades. Visitors can find a few stores selling the local medicinal liquor, homeishu, in this area. And in the bay front area, visitors can see many clusters of many small, traditional boats.
The Joyato Lighthouse, a popular landmark of Tomonoura, was built during the Edo Period. Visitors can visit this eleven meter tall structure at the waterfront directly south of the town center.

Japan Travel Traditional Port Town, Tomonoura, Fukuyama Hiroshima22 Moopon
Tomonoura (鞆の浦) is a port town at the southern end of Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Situated at a bay facing the Seto Inland Sea, the picturesque port town features an endearing old-fashioned fishing townscape, with a calm and laid-back atmosphere. Tomonoura is part of the Setonaikai National Park.
Tomonoura prospered in the olden days of sail boats, when merchant ships traveling along the Seto Inland Sea would dock at its port while waiting for a favorable tide. The town center flourished with the bustling sea activity, leading to thriving industries such as the production of homeishu, a medicinal liquor of shochu and 16 types of herbs, said to promote longevity.
In recent years, Tomonoura has been picked as a filming location for several international and local movies, such as The Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman and Ponyo on the Cliff by the popular Studio Ghibli. The port town portrayed in the beginning of Ponyo on the Cliff was modeled after Tomonoura.

The old town center of Tomonoura has many photogenic alleys lined by rustic old houses with wooden facades. There are a few shops selling homeishu, the local medicinal liquor. The bayfront area is littered with small boats, demonstrating the port's continuing relevancy. Here are some attractions around the town center:

Japan Trip: Medicinal Liquor Homeishu at Ota Residence, Tomonoura Town, Fukuyama City, Hiroshima24 Moopon
Ota Residence, located in Tomonoura Town, Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, belonged to a family who brewed homeishu—a local medicinal liquor—in the late 17th Century.
Business prospered from 1710 to the onset of the Meiji Period when the family was granted monopoly over the homeishu production. When the business took a downward turn, the residence was sold. However, the new owner has preserved many o f the traditional features of the building.
Visitors are able to view the multiple tatami mat rooms, tea rooms, and homeishu storehouse.

Hours: 10:00 to 17:00 (last entry at 16:30)
Closed: Tuesdays (if Tuesday is a national holiday then the residence will be closed the following day) and from Dec 29th to Jan 1st
Admission: 400 yen

Exploring Hiroshima Vid 001
It's almost the end of summer season here in Japan and we decided to travel to Hiroshima City and took advantage of the unlimited train ride.(
In this vlog is our trip experience from Numakuma, Fukuyama City, our temporary haven for 1.5 years and a glimpse of the Hiroshima Castle. Sadly, we didn't get in.. In a rush (gadali mga angkols)
Our main goals was the Hiroshima Peace Museum (Vid 002) and a shopping spree at a big outlet store (Vid 003). WIll be uploading soonest.
Sareee.. Needed more energy, haha.. My first time to vlog (in bisaya). I'll be doing narrations in the future vlogs para complete package =) WIll be better next time..

This is the fifteenth in a series of travelogues about my cycling trip in Japan in the spring of 2019.
By far the shortest day of the trip, it took just over 20 km to go from Fukuyama to the small town of Onomichi - not only the starting point of the Shimanami-kaidō, but also the place where I’d meet Sat again, who would join me on my list day of riding. Going at a way easier pace, even taking some detours on minor backroads, taking time to take in the scenery and even have some conversations with locals made me realize that I should have focused on that aspect of traveling a lot more over the past eleven days of riding. Onomichi as a town was a lot nicer than expected, so we spent an enjoyable afternoon there, gaining our strengths for the big ride that would await the following day.
