This restaurant is known for having natto cuisine - dishes made with Natto - that gooey, sticky fermented bean that we all love.
MIto City in Ibaraki is the the HOME OF NATTO so yeah, they have “Natto Cuisine” here.
What exactly is it you ask? You’re about to find out at Sansui and joining Jennifer and I is Nebaru-kun, the natto loving Japanese mascot who is cousins with Funassyi.

A5 Wagyu Steak Home Cooked | Hitachi Beef
Today we’ll home cook an A5 Hitachi Beef Sirloin Steak half cut. It’s 202g and cost ¥3,179 ($30) from a wholesaler near the Wagyu processing plant in Ibaraki. It doesn’t get fresher than this! I also have an A5 Wagyu Burger from Hitachi to cook up. HITACHI BEEF is the Wagyu from Ibaraki Prefecture, about an hour north of Tokyo. It’s famous for its produce and also — beef.

Korean Barbecue is a fun 'cook-it-at-your-table' hands on experience. Yakiniku (焼き肉 or 焼肉), meaning grilled meat, refers to the Japanese style of cooking bite-size meat (usually beef) and vegetables on gridirons or griddles over a flame of wood charcoals carbonized by dry distillation (sumibi, 炭火) or a gas/electric grill.
The present style of yakiniku restaurants are derived from Korean restaurants in Osaka and Tokyo, which opened around 1945. In a yakiniku restaurant, diners order prepared raw ingredients (individually or as a set) which are brought to the table. The ingredients are cooked by the diners on a grill built into the table, several pieces at a time. The ingredients are then dipped in sauces known as tare before being eaten.

Jumbo Tempura! 巨大すぎる天ぷら蕎麦
With a hankering for really huge tempura, I drove out to Ibaraki Prefecture! And yep, it was really huge!
But luckily the coating wasn't too oily and it had a fresh crisp to it, so I was able to wolf them down.
The owner spends Monday through Thursday in the mountains gathering ingredients and preparing, so the shop is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And even then, it's only open four hours for lunch!
But it was completely worth it to work around his schedule!
I hope you all have a chance to experience this unique cuisine!
It's right next to the station “Katsura”!
And you're not expected to finish the whole meal, so they supply take-home bags for you to enjoy another day!
でっかくて美味しい天ぷらが食べられる！と、茨城県まで車を飛ばして行ってきました！
たしかに！とんでもなく大きい！
でも、衣が脂っこくなく、さっくりしているのでバクバク食べられちゃいます。
平日、月曜日から木曜日までお店のご主人が素材を山へ取りに行ったり、仕込みをしているので、営業は金・土・日曜日の３日間だけ。
しかも、時間も11時〜13時まで、と4時間のみです！
でも、これは遠出して食べる価値がありました！
