Hans Christian Andersen Park, Funabashi, Japan - Best Travel Destination
Funabashi H.C. Andersen Park is a park abundant with flowers and greenery, located in the northern part of Funabashi. The park is named after H.C. Andersen, the writer of stories for children, who was born in Odense, Denmark, Funabashi's sister-city. Inside the park is a windmill, the park's symbol, and an area that reproduces the rural scenery of Denmark at the height of Andersen's literary activities in the 1800s.
Easy athletics can be enjoyed in the Wanpaku Oukoku Zone (Naughty Kingdom Zone) and in the Shizentaiken Zone (Nature Experience Zone), one can take a stroll through the waterside and rice fields rampant with hygrophytes. Funabashi is one of the most attractive cities in Japan. It is located 24 minutes from Tokyo Station and 41 minutes from Narita Airport by train.
Over 610,000 residents enjoy the convenience of Funabashi including a well-developed railroad network and a variety of commercial institutions, large shopping malls.
A pear fairy “Funassyi” has made Funabashi even more famous, however, it is originally rich in tourist attractions.
The precious tideland “Sanbanze”, famous as a stopping point for migratory birds is lying along Tokyo Bay to the south. It has been selected as one of the “100 Fuji Viewing Spots in Kanto”. “Diamond Fuji”, the view of the setting sun meeting the summit of Mt. Fuji can be observed in February and October.
“Funabashi Andersen Park” surrounded by rich nature is in the northern part of the city. It was built through the full cooperation with the City of Odense, one of the sister cities of Funabashi and the only park in the world which was allowed to use the name of the world-famous fairy tale writer, H.C. Andersen. Funabashi Andersen Park wins 2014 Traveller’s Choice Attractions Award by TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site and becomes tenth in the ranking of the most popular entertainment parks in Japan.
