Chiba grand summer festival held at Chiba Shi Central Park last August 19, 2018. Japanese street dance were performed from different barangay of Chiba. Different kinds of Japanese food were sold in the area, you can also enjoy alcoholic drinks. Despite the amount of alcohol being consumed, the atmosphere feels safe and friendly (especially compared to some western festivals) as families with young children cheerfully mix with old couples and young drinkers.

Riding Yamanote Line (山手線) Train to Ikebukuro (Tokyo Metropolis), Japan
This is the second video about riding the Yamanote Line Train. You can tell how much I like riding this train. This time, I took the video of a ride to Ikebukuro.
Yamanote line （山手線） is a loop line inside the Tokyo Metropolis. It connects the important wards and districts inside the Tokyo Metropolis. There are two types of Yamanote trains running on this line, one going clockwise and one going anticlockwise. This way, you can get to your destination faster by finding which direction is closer to where you are.
Unlike the subway lines that belong to Tokyo Metro, Yamanote Line is part of JR East so, JR Pass is allowed on Yamanote Train. So, if you are a JR Pass holder, feel free to hop onto this train.
Since this train goes in a loop around Tokyo Metropolis, it is a good way to see the entire Tokyo city using Yamanote line.

Tokyo's Ameyoko Market is the city's street food paradise. There is no debate. The market street runs for 400 meters along the Yamanote Line from Okachimachi to Ueno Station. There are hundreds of shops selling all kinds of delicious foods but its the market's past that makes it unique.
▶︎ HISTORY
Ameyoko was Tokyo's black market during the US Occupation between 1945 and 1952, a place where you could get expensive and highly regulated goods like sugar.
▶︎ The Ame in Ameyoko means CANDY in Japanese.
But ame also stands for AMErica since the market sold so many good broght in by US Servicemen during the occupation. You can still see sun glasses, watches, and Zippo lighters sold on the street to this day.
The market has changed a lot over the last 75 years.
After being a black market, it became home to Tohoku's seafood in the 1950s since nearby Ueno is the city's gate to the north of the country. In the 1970s and 80s, immigrants from abroad made their homes in the area and there is a growing variety of foods. With more tourists flooding the market, stands are converting from shops to restaurants at night, tables spilling into the streets.

On a heavily guarded campus east of San Francisco stands Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, one of the U.S. government's premier scientific research facilities. Hours after a massive earthquake and tsunami struck Japan on March 11, 2011, a team of Livermore scientists mobilized to begin assessing the danger from the crippled Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant. The 40-odd team members include physicists, meteorologists, computer modelers, and health specialists. Their specialty is major airborne hazards—toxic matter from chemical fires, ash from volcanoes, or radioactive emissions.
The scientists' work—secret at the time and barely known to the public even today—had an enormous impact on Japan's nuclear crisis, averting a potentially disastrous U.S. overreaction. (WORRIED MUCH?)
In the White House Situation Room, an emergency task force included officials from so many agencies that the screen showing video-conference participants was often divided into 32, with people from the Pentagon, Hawaii, Tokyo, and elsewhere. The diplomats involved resisted troop evacuations: What kind of signal would that send to China, North Korea, and allies around the world? If panic erupted in Tokyo, wouldn't that irreparably harm the U.S.-Japan relationship?
The main focus of concern was the 40,000-plus active-duty military members, near Tokyo. Those bases are key to the U.S. strategy of maintaining stability in the Asia Pacific.
The biggest source of concern, both men agreed, was the spent fuel pool in Reactor No. 4, which U.S. nuclear experts in Japan believed had lost its capacity to retain water following a nearby explosion. A lack of water in the pool could mean that the 1,000-plus rods of fuel would heat up, catch fire, and emit so much radiation that any workers in the immediate vicinity would fall fatally sick within hours.
This is why the White House called upon the team at Livermore. Formally known as the National Atmospheric Release Advisory Center, or NARAC,
which by some reckonings is less severe and more solvable than recent headlines suggest.)
Translation: The Nuclear industry would have you believe that dumping the radioactive water in the shoddy tanks (which by the way were only built to last 3 years and were bolted not welded together) out to sea is a great answer to conspiracy theory people claiming that the nuclear industry is NOT SAFE. Clearly, the nuclear industry is NOT safe, and to say that it is, is simply Their Conspiracy to slow kill you while raking in the money, at YOUR expense.

Naoto Kan, who was prime minister at the time and has since become a leading advocate of eliminating nuclear power, draws headlines with his estimate that the evacuation of 50 million Japanese—with ensuing mass panic and many casualties—came terrifyingly close to reality.

His Ph.D. thesis at Berkeley (where Holdren was his adviser) was titled Radiological Hazards of Fusion Reactors,
It was an honest mistake. On the morning of March 16, 2011, top officials of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission concluded that the spent fuel pool in Reactor No. 4 at Fukushima Dai-ichi must be dry.
