Supermoon Tidal bore in South Maitland
June 23, 2013. Filmed at the Fundy Tidal Interpretive Centre in South Maitland, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Tidal Bore is a phenomenon where the incoming tides of the Bay of Fundy shove into the Shubenacadie River and reverse the flow of the river, inducing a wave. This is an especially dramatic bore because of the full moon.

Video taken from the look off that was built onto an old bridge platform. This video was taken around 3 pm on 18 May 2010. The water rose approximately 6 feet in 20 minutes or so. If you ever wondered what a flash flood would look like; this would give you an indication.
[Wikipedia] South Maitland, Nova Scotia
South Maitland is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Municipal District of East Hants, Hants County, Nova Scotia. The community was one of the stops on the Shubenacadie Canal system and the site of a number of 19th century shipyards including the yard that built the barque Calburga in 1890, the last large square rigger to sail under a Canadian flag. The village is best known for the historic bridge built over the Shubenacadie River, a large bridge built over challenging tidal waters by the Midland Railway, part of the Dominion Atlantic Railway in 1901. Demolished in the 1990s, a surviving abutment of the railway bridge was retrofitted in 2006 by the Fundy Tidal Interpretive Centre at South Maitland as an interpretive lookoff and walking trail showcasing the massive tides of the Shubenacadie River. A former railway caboose is also preserved beside the interpretive tail.

Belinda rides the Morbihan Gulf 'washing machine' - a turbulent spring tide
Belinda rides out the 'washing machine effect' in crossing a turbulent stretch of the rapid tidal stream in the Gulf of Morbihan in France. Oddly, there is no wind so we have little control. Bee has a paddle at the ready. Even the bigger sail craft can turn 360 in the whirlpools that suddenly appear next to you. We struggle to keep Kingfisher pointing downstream and away from the rocky shoreline. Shot during the 'Semaine du Golfe Festival 2017' - Flotilla #7. It's good fun and just part of the Gulf's sailing experience!
