北海道美瑛川青池不動之滝及四季花田-粵語解述2018 Blue Pond in Biei
1926年5月大正火山爆發較嚴重，當時山上尚存積雪，火山爆發後，部份山勢崩塌，灼熱砂土將周圍積雪溶化，然後產生大量火山泥流，摻雜附近的土石和樹木，往下流向美瑛町和上富良野町，頃刻吞噬山麓的居民、牛馬和房屋，釀成144人死亡和失蹤，200人受傷，372座房屋被摧毀。十勝岳火山於1988年12月爆發後，北海道開發局為了保護美瑛町地區免於火山泥漿流的災害，於是在美瑛川施建防砂工程。有海報內容說明這與天空呈現藍色的機制相同，都是來自於光的散射。至於到底是湖水中的哪種物質所造成，那個解說牌有提到「アルミニウムを含んだ水が 氫氧化鋁膠體」或許就是原因。人們相信北海道的十勝岳火山於1988年12月爆發後噴出火山灰土（volcanic ash soil），其主要成分為含鋁量高的非晶質水鋁英石，這種土壤具有高水合的能力，並且具有廣大的表面積，可以透過離子和配位基的交換反應來形成氫氧化鋁的膠體。”青い池”就是由於湖水中含有這種膠體，因此能產生瑞利散射而發出短波長的藍光（人眼對紫光不敏感）而使湖水呈現出藍色。至於池水中的硫黃微粒雖也能扮演相同的散射角色，但是由於其中亦含有較大的硫黃顆粒，這些大顆粒是進行米氏散射，如同雲之所以呈現白色的那種機制，因此硫磺泉的顏色反而是呈現偏白的牛奶色澤。基於『藍色』+『白色』＝『淺藍色』，也就是『青色』，所以”青い池”成色的機制不僅僅是解說牌所說的「アルミニウムを含んだ水が 氫氧化鋁膠體」而已，反而是「氫氧化鋁膠體+硫黃」的共同效應所造成。
