Discovering legendary hero Fu Xi: A visit to Fu Xi Temple in Tianshui, China
A grand ceremony was staged in Tianshui, China on Saturday to commemorate legendary ancestor Fu Xi.
Fu Xi is a culture hero believed to be the inventor of writing, fishing and hunting.

Fu Xi Temple, Tianshui
Fu Xi was the first of the three gods in ancient China according to Chinese mythology. The mythology says that Fu Xi married his sister Nv Wa, procreated the human race and taught them to fish. Hence, Fuxi is called the God of Fishery and Husbandry.
Fu Xi Temple is located at the Fuxi Road, Tianshui City of Gansu Province. It was first completed in 1484 and had been restored nine times in all. Originally, it took an area of 13000 square meters (about 3.2 acres).
Today, the locals come here to worship Fu Xi on every January 16 according to Chinese lunar calendar. The legend has it that Fu Xi was born on January 16.

Beijing’s Imperial Ancestral Temple holds New Year celebrat
This year, the celebration held at Imperial Ancestral Temple in the Forbidden City in Beijing featured the theme: Golden Dream, Auspicious Beijing. About a thousand people attended the event. They wrote their New Year wishes on a cloth on the wall, and had their photos taken upon entering. Their photos have been put together on a screen to form the Chinese character “Fu（福）”, which means good fortune. Special Beijing snacks were also available and there were performances on traditional chimes.
