Glenelg Beach

Glenelg Beach is Adelaide's most popular city beach, offering a buzzing vibe and great atmosphere for all to enjoy. Renowned for its wide beach, stunning sunsets, rich heritage, charming hotels and bustling shops, sidewalk cafés and loads of entertainment.

Take a dip, stroll the jetty, grab a bite to eat and watch the sun set over the ocean. No trip to the beach is complete without an ice-cream or gelati - or two - and you'll find plenty of opportunities to treat yourself at Glenelg. The Glenelg Foreshore playground are hives of activity throughout the summer months, offering a huge range of family-friendly entertainment and sporting activities. Look out for the bungy trampoline, pedal cars and talented buskers. Hire a bike or just walk to the coast path.

The coastline has a number of user-friendly foreshore parks and reserves. Most have large, grassed areas that are great for picnics and are equipped with BBQ facilities, playgrounds and public toilets.

Jetty Road

Jetty Road is the shopping and dining hub for Glenelg, Adelaide's most popular city beach.

This kilometre-long retail strip is the perfect place to grab a barista made coffee, relax with a meal in one of the many cafés or restaurants and the chance to shop stylish boutiques, home wares, gift shops and more.

Come along with family and friends 7 days a week and enjoy the open-air spaces, laneways and the seaside atmosphere.

The Beachouse entertainment complex nearby, offers hours of fun including water slides, mini golf, bumper boats and arcade games.

Heritage-listed Glenelg Town Hall houses the Bay Discovery Centre which tracks the history of Holdfast Bay – its early settlement, federation days and evolving seaside lifestyle. Entry by gold coin donation.

The GU Film House in the eastern end boasts six cinemas, onsite licensed café/bar and an enticing mix of art-house and blockbuster movies in a stylish cinema complex.

Further along the foreshore, Marina Pier offers a relaxing seaside, food, wine and shopping precinct offering panoramic views of the marina and the ocean.This is also the home of Temptation Sailing's dolphin cruises.

Hop onto the Glenelg tram which connects Jetty Road with the Adelaide city centre.

The Variety 4WD Challenge will take you on a thrillseeking, eight day adventure that you won't forget!

Dubbed the 'Southern Cross 4WD' -- the 2013 event will kick off in Glenelg, South Australia on 3 May. You'll take part in the quintessential Australian experience crossing the Nullarbor Plain, visiting Parachilna, Andamooka, Smoky Bay, Eucla and other mystery locations before finishing in Kalgoorlie on 11 May 2013.

All raising funds for WA children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.
