SARAJEVO 'Where East Meets West' ► Bosnia Travel Vlog
Join me, Vivi, in my trip around the world! This 'episode' I explore the city of Sarajevo in Bosnia & Herzegovina
Museums I recommend-
Gallery 11/07/95
This museum hosts a collection of art, photographs, documentaries and videos about the war and genocides in Bosnia & Herzegovina , particularly focusing on the Srebrenica massacre.I found it to be moving and emotional, and would highly recommend, especially for anyone interested in art and photography.
Museum of Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide
This museum documents the war in Bosnia & Herzegovina through personal items with written statements alongside them, documentaries & interviews, diagrams, dioramas and weapons used in the war. If you only have time to visit one museum, I recommend to visit this one as it has such a vast collection and gets into great detail about the war, however I would dedicate between 2-4 hours there as there is a lot to read and watch. It is also incredibly emotional to visit but your ticket gives you entry for the day, so if you get overwhelmed you can go for a walk and come back later in that day.
War Childhood Museum
The museum presents the experiences of children who lived through the war in Bosnia, told through objects, video testimonies, and excerpts from oral histories. It's hard to imagine how a siege and war affects a child but this museum does an amazing job at describing how it impacted so many children, as shown through their personal letters and objects. Particularly interesting was a collection of the humanitarian aid food tins/packages one child collected during the war.
Also shown;
The Sarajevo Roses
A number of craters left by fatal mortar strikes have been filled with red resin to remember those lost during the Siege of Sarajevo.
The Eternal Flame
The Eternal flame is a memorial to the military and civilian victims of the Second World War in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The flames never stop burning which makes this monument a unique piece of art, idea and dedication.
I stayed at Hostel Franz Ferdinand, and would highly reccomend, it was clean, comfortable and had awesome staff working there! :)
Music used;
After All by Geographer, Arpeggisynth by Geographer and Sunstroke by Geographer

In 2015, the genocide completed 20 years. The name of the gallery refers to the date of the massacre.
In Sarajevo, the gallery displays the consequences of the civil war in the country in several shocking images.
In the video, Galerija's director, Tarik Samarah, talks about the challenge of maintaining a memory space and his personal obligation to educate the public about the Bosnia civil war.

The School of Knowledge is seeking a transformation of education about the war, genocide and urban / civic / cultural resistance into a universal educational model through a unique platform for knowledge transfer. A methodology that detects early warning signs which break through the information noise to train individuals and equip society with the means to prevent the escalation of future/potential conflicts over the point of no return.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is still, like the entire region which includes the former Yugoslav countries, even 20 years after the war (1992-95) suffering from its consequences, while the everyday life of all former republics is marked by the problems of overcoming the past that are reflected in the issues of justice, remembrance, denial and reconciliation.
MAPPING THE DAYTON PEACE ACCORDS - Video Documentary Animation
© Miran Norderland (21.11.2015)
School of Knowledge: Mapping Dayton Peace Accords project can trace back its origins to 2000, when Miran Norderland and the FAMA Team obtained permission from Ambassador Richard Holbrooke and his publisher Random House to use his book “To End A War” for the creation of the FAMA Album: “The Dayton Peace Accords: Mapping Negotiations.” The objective of the project was to visualise and contextualise the road to Dayton by mappingout the U.S. Shuttle Diplomacy and Peace Proximity Talks in Dayton in a way that they could be accessible to a wide range audience.
The Bosnian war was considered “the greatest collective security failure of the West [in Europe] since the 1930s.” This is the story of how the United States led the effort to end the Bosnian war and forge the Dayton Peace Accords in 1995.
The Dayton Peace Accords is not just a peace treaty that keeps Bosnia stable and in peace; it is an opportunity to learn why and how the accords came to fruition. We hope that this Video Documentary Animation will enable you to contextualise and visualise the events that marked the end of the 20th century, and continue to shape Bosnia’s future.

MAPPING THE DAYTON PEACE NEGOTIATIONS - Educational 'Study Table' trailer
We hope that this Educational “Study Table” will enable you to contextualise and visualise the events that marked the end of the 20th century, and continue to shape Bosnia’s future.
