SRF193.2: SYDNEY S SET @ MASCOT STATION
A Semi Retired Foamer Quickie.
With only a handful of S sets still left in service, and their future grim at best, opportunity was taken yesterday to get a short video at Mascot station yesterday.
I have since heard that the last is planned for withdrawal by the end of April. If so, this video will likely be the last images I take of them in regular service.
Another link to the early days of my railfan life will soon be ripped away.

Monumental Mysteries at the State Library of Victoria
The Victorians were mad for public art, and in this episode of MonsterThinks we look at the mysteries surrounding three of the State Library of Victoria’s statues, from a 30cm surprise gorilla, through twin kings of the jungle to a war hero who was nevertheless burnt at the stake.

2011 Wall to Wall Ride
More than 1,000 police officers from around Australia honoured their fallen colleagues in the second annual 'Wall to Wall' motorcycle ride today.
NSW Police officers gathered at the Police Wall of Remembrance in The Domain for a memorial service this morning, including NSW Police Force Commissioner, Andrew Scipione APM who was also joined by Australian Federal Police Commissioner, Tony Negus APM; Tasmania Police Commissioner, Darren Hine; Northern Territory Police Commissioner, John McRoberts; and former NSW Police Force Commissioner, Tony Lauer APM.
The NSW contingent was also joined at the service by more than 50 Queensland Police officers, led by Assistant Commissioner Paul Doyle APM.
The Queensland officers rode in honour of their fallen colleagues, Detective Senior Constable Damian Leeding and Sergeant Dan Stiller.
NSW Police Force Chaplain, Father Paul O'Donoghue blessed the riders before they departed under the escort of highway patrol car 'Botany Bay 211' -- dedicated to the memory of the late Senior Constable Glenn McEnallay.
The procession travelled along the Eastern Distributor, Southern Cross Drive, the M5 and Hume Highway -- slowing as it passed over the bridge named in honour of the late Senior Constable Jim Affleck, near Campbelltown.
A dozen Northern Territory Police officers, who travelled across the outback in recent days, linked up with the convoy at the Jim Affleck Bridge.
After a seven-day pilgrimage from Perth, more than 50 Western Australia Police officers -- including Commissioner Karl O'Callaghan -- met the group at the NSW Police Academy in Goulburn.
And more than 230 Australian Federal Police, Victoria Police, South Australia Police and Tasmania Police officers gathered on the outskirts of Canberra before joining the final stages of the ride to the National Police Memorial, where a commemorative service was held this afternoon.
Participants in this year's Wall to Wall Ride for Remembrance again raised much-needed funds for Police Legacy, which provides emotional and financial support to the partners and children of deceased police officers.
Constable Nathan Kohutek from Green Valley Local Area Command, who lost his police officer father 29 years ago, participated in the ride for the first time, honouring his late father.
Nathan is a Police Legatee who was just four years old when his father, the late Constable First Class Mark Kohutek, was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Pacific Highway in March 1982.
NSW Police Force Commissioner, Andrew Scipione APM, met with Constable Nathan Kohutek and his family at The Domain prior to the ride, and this afternoon nominated Constable Kohotek to present the NSW Police baton at the Wall of Remembrance in Canberra.
The Kohutek family story encapsulates everything that this wonderful event is about, Commissioner Scipione said. It's about honouring and remembering police officers killed on duty, supporting the loved ones left behind through our Legacy organisations, and the ongoing enjoyment of motorcycling.
This is only the second time the Wall to Wall Ride has been held but it has received overwhelming support from serving police across Australia who wanted to come together and remember their fallen colleagues.
It has also been a great opportunity to renew friendships and the social fraternity of policing, sometimes forgotten, sometimes lamented. But when we do come together, we absolutely remind ourselves that the strength and friendship of our common bonds and purpose still exist and are strong and lasting, Mr Scipione said.

Haunted House on a Hill: The Ghosts of Kreischer Mansion
It was once a small factory town in the New York City borough of Staten Island, but there are few remnants of the neighborhood then-known as Kreischerville, including a mansion possibly inhabited by the spirits of the family the town was named after. Visitors have reported mysterious sounds and sightings at the house throughout the years. The house's caretaker and a local historian give InsideEdition.com some insight into who could be haunting the old Kreishcer Mansion.

Fine Art TV Series - Colour In Your Life
Season - 07
Episode - 03
Filmed on Location at - Mount Perry, South East Central QLD, Australia
Adrienne Williams is a landscape painter represented by Red Hill Gallery. At the heart of her work is her passion for wild places and the natural beauty of the bush. Her practice involves totally immersing herself in the landscape, in its cycles of changing light, weather and mood, making extended sketching trips into the bush. Back in the studio those photographs, sketches and rock rubbings inspire drawings, oil canvasses and collagraphs.
A chaos of paper and pins and netting is how she hangs material in her studio. From the scribblings, scratchings and photos in the sketching corner through to plein air (outdoor) sketches made on various sites in the region, you can see this process in action.
Adrienne studied painting and graphic design at Queensland College of Art and has held solo and group exhibitions since 1999. In 2013 she was a member of an artists exchange between the Wide Bay region in Queensland, and a gallery in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Adrienne William's latest exhibition opened in her new home town of Mt Perry recently. This exhibition of sketches and oil paintings shows some of Adrienne's work in progress for the joint Childers/Las Cruces USA exhibition in October, and at Red Hill Gallery in Brisbane.
Adrienne is one of 4 local artists chosen for the Wide Bay High Desert project coordination by the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, Childers Art Space, and the Unencumbered Gallery in the city of Las Cruces, New Mexico. The artists are currently each producing 4 pieces of work for the exchange as well as daily and weekly blog posts with their 4 New Mexico counterparts. Each artist will display two pieces in New Mexico and two in Childers in the October exhibition.
You can contact Adrienne Williams via the Red Hill gallery at

The Magical Science of Storytelling | David JP Phillips
Humans are storytellers by nature, so the ability to tell a great story is something we can all learn and develop over time – but where do you start if you want to become a great storyteller, what is the structure of a great story, and how do you practice if you’re not already a public speaker?
What to Listen For
What does science tell us about why storytelling is so powerful?
What can you do to be a more compelling storyteller?
What steps can you follow to tell unforgettable stories?
What are the 4 basic steps of storytelling and how can you apply them in everyday life to become a great storyteller?
What simple game can you play with family, friends, or strangers to test and improve your storytelling ability?
Why are emotions such a crucial aspect of great storytelling and what can you do to incorporate them into your stories?
What is the Angel’s Cocktail and how does it make for an unforgettable story?
How should you approach storytelling in a professional setting like a networking event versus a personal setting like hanging out with friends or being on a date?
How do you tell an engaging story when Powerpoint is involved and what should you avoid doing at all costs?
What are the key things you should pay attention to in the audience when presenting?
What are the 5 layers of communication and how does knowledge of them tell you who is trustworthy and who is not?
What mindset should you adopt to better handle the Q & A after a talk or presentation?
Storytelling is a skill like any other, but that means to become great at it requires you to practice it – how can you become good at anything without adequate repetition? But unlike many other skills, storytelling is something you can practice every single day with anyone you talk to. Just think about something that has happened in your life, large or small, and tell the story of it through the 4 basic steps discussed in this episode.
