6 Controversial Artifacts That Could Have Changed History
6 Controversial Artifacts That Could Have Changed History
6. The Davenport Tablets
The Davenport Academy was a major force in early American amateur archeology. Unfortunately, the organization ended up lending its name to one of the most ridiculous hoaxes in American history. In 1877, Reverend Jacob Gass claimed to have found a set of four inscribed tablets buried in an ancient mound in Iowa.
5. The Hercules Sarcophagus
The ancient Greek hero Hercules has long had an association with the Iberian Peninsula. In one version of the legend, the 10th of the demigod’s famous Twelve Tasks was retrieving the cattle of Geryon. Along the way, he shortened the trip a bit by smashing the Atlas Mountains and joining the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean. Even today, the straight between Gibraltar and Morocco is said to be flanked by the Pillars of Hercules.
4. The Secret Gospel Of Mark
The supposed Secret Gospel of Mark was discovered by an apparently reputable source: Columbia University professor Morton Smith. In 1973, Smith released two books claiming to have stumbled across a letter in the ancient monastery of Mar Saba (pictured). The letter was supposedly written by the early church father Clement of Alexandria and detailed the existence of a longer version of the Gospel of Mark, intended only for full initiates into the “mysteries” of Christianity.
3. Newark Holy Stones
Beginning in 1860, a Newark, Ohio, man named David Wyrick supposedly discovered two pretty incredible artifacts. The first, dubbed the “Decalogue Stone,” was a piece of limestone carved with an image of Moses and the Ten Commandments. The second was “the Keystone,” a wedge-shaped stone carved on four sides with the phrases “Holy of Holies,” “King of the Earth,” “The Law of God,” and “The Word of God.
2. The Grolier Codex
In 1966, Mexican collector Josue Saenz was approached by a nameless person and told to get on a plane and not ask any questions. Naturally, Saenz agreed and was taken to an unknown location and given the opportunity to buy a supposed Mayan artifact known as the Grolier Codex.
1. James Ossuary
The James Ossuary itself is the real thing, originating somewhere between the first century BC and 70 AD. It’s a rather unassuming-looking limestone box, one of a countless number of similar relics used to house the bones of the deceased. The controversy comes from a simple Aramaic inscription on the ossuary. If real, it could be the earliest known mention of Jesus Christ.

BIGRAPHY Cleopatra
Cleopatra VII (69 – 10 or 12 August 30 BC) ruled ancient Egypt as co-regent (first with her two younger brothers and then with her son) for almost three decades. She became the last in a dynasty of Macedonian rulers founded by Ptolemy, who served as general under Alexander the Great during his conquest of Egypt in 332 B.C. Well-educated and clever, Cleopatra could speak various languages and served as the dominant ruler in all three of her co-regencies.
Her romantic liaisons and military alliances with the Roman leaders Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, as well as her supposed exotic beauty and powers of seduction, earned her an enduring place in history and popular myth. More article :

Cleopatra was born in69B.C and committed suicide in the year 30B.C
.Cleopatra belonged to the Ptolemy dynasty of Egypt and perhaps was one of the most powerful pharaohs of her time.
She was not shy about using her power and always claimed that she was a Goddess Isis herself. Though she ruled Egypt she belonged to Greece as her family migrated many years earlier to Greece.
They were called Macedonian Greeks. Cleopatra was the only queen who learnt to read and write in Egyptian and for the first time during her rule Egyptian was used as an official language.
In addition to learning the language she embraced the ancient culture and their gods. Cleopatra spoke nine languages and had an irresistible charm that attracted men towards her.
Though she was no classic beauty her charm was iconic. Cleopatra was an intellectual and so she could work on equal terms with men and her mastery over so many languages and subjects gave her the upper hand.
She was extremely ambitious and co ruled with her father for four years when she got valuable experience.
When her father died in order to hold on to the throne she married her brother but soon made sure he was forgotten by the people.
Her first step was to erase his images from all the coins. Her initial years were a struggle as there was drought and famine because of the failure of Nile to flood.
Her error in judgment of taking sides cost her throne but soon through manipulation she won it back. Her brother in the meanwhile found a new ally in Julius Ceaser but the intelligent Cleopatra managed to fascinate the Roman emperor and he remained with her till the very end.
Cleopatra is alleged to have killed both her brothers and sisters who were eying the throne.
She is said to have introduced the leap year and day to Ceaser and he implemented it in the Roman calendar. Cleopatra was living with Ceaser when he was murdered and had to make a hasty escape.
Though people spoke behind her back the women imitated everything she did and she became a style icon for women of those days
. After Ceaser she impressed Marc Antony whom she married in Egyptian style. Soon Octavius who called Marc Antony a traitor waged war against them.
Though they knew it was lost cause both fought commanding thir own fleet. Cleopatra when she realized that all was over for her consumed snake poison and killed herself. #theopenbook #Education #Educationalvideos #Studyiq #learn #Cbse #icse #ssc #generalknowledge

1. Yonaguni Pyramids
In the mid 80s, Divers found underwater rock terraces and pyramids off the coast of Yonaguni Jima. Yonaguni Jima is an island that lies near the southern tip of Japan's Ryukyu archipelago, About 75 miles off the eastern coast of Taiwan. At first scientists believed they might be natural formations, but There are quarry marks and some writing on the stones and animal statues that have also been found underwater. Now some experts believe that The structures Could be what is left of the mythical city of Mu, a fabled Pacific civilization rumored to have vanished beneath the waves. Masaki Kimura, a marine geologist from the University of Japan, Has been studying the underwater pyramids for over 15 years. The underwater structures include castle ruins, a triumphal arch, five temples and at least one large stadium, all of which are Connected by roads and water channels and are partly shielded by what could be huge retaining walls. Kimura believes the ruins date back to at least 5,000 years, based on the dates of stalactites found inside underwater caves that he says sank with the city. The theory is that the ancient underwater city Might have been sunk by an earthquake or tsunami around 2,000 years ago. Yonaguni invites tourists and researchers to dive freely around the site.
2. Sunken City of Cuba
In 2001, A company called Advanced Digital Communications (ADC) was working with Fidel Castro's government to explore Cuban waters looking for sunken Spanish ships loaded with treasure. Their Sonar equipment picked up a series of geometrical structures lying on the bottom of the ocean. Here's a computer generated image of the pyramids and other structures found underwater.
The structures and design made it look like there was A gigantic underwater city at the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle. The media went crazy claiming that Atlantis had been discovered in Cuba. There are local legends of the Maya and native Yucatecos that tell of an Island inhabited by their ancestors that vanished beneath the waves. If it's true the structures were made by an ancient civilization, they would have been the Most technologically advanced structures on the planet at that time. Scientists estimate that they would have been built about 50,000 years ago which doesn't seem very likely. The numerous structures and cities that have been discovered underwater around the world Lie less than 120 meters (or 395 feet) below sea level, which comes as no surprise since the sea level never fell below this mark during the time Homo sapiens walked the earth. This Cuban city, if we can call it that, is the Only exception since It is submerged over 700 meters (2300 feet) underwater. If the large structures are actually pyramids, 2 of them are Even larger than the pyramids of Giza and Cheops in Egypt. As of yet there is no plausible explanation for the existence of this city and ADC is still trying to investigate the site.
3. Lake Titicaca
Lake Titicaca is Located in the Andes between Bolivia and Peru. It is the largest freshwater lake in South America and was the cradle of Peru's ancient civilizations, including the Inca. Their presence can be seen on Lake Titicaca by the ruins they left behind, including A mysterious underwater temple thought to be between 1,000 and 1,500 years old. In the Incan creation myth, The god Con Tiqui Viracocha emerged from Lake Titicaca. After commanding the sun, moon, and the stars to rise, Viracocha created more human beings from stone. After bringing them to life, Viracocha Commanded them to go and populate the world. The Incas therefore believed that Lake Titicaca was their place of origin, and that upon death, Their spirits would return to this lake. Archeologists located a huge temple in 2000 after following a submerged road (and I'm sure following advice from locals). After 18 days of diving below the clear waters of Titicaca, scientists said they had Discovered a 660-foot long, 160-foot wide temple, a terrace for crops, and a 2,600-foot containing wall along with gold and statues. It is said the lost city was Covered with sediment during a great flood of biblical proportions and local people had passed down the stories of the underwater temple and flood from generation to generation.

Hebrew: A Holy Language
Although the Bible itself says very little about it, Jewish and Christian traditions commonly regard Hebrew as the language of creation, the language of primitive humanity and, ultimately, the language of God. Is there any evidence to support such views? Scholars today understand Hebrew to be a North-West Semitic language closely related to Moabite and Phoenician. It entered the record of history late in the day. Nevertheless, the notion of Hebrew as a holy language cannot be completely rejected.
In this lecture, Jan Joosten, Regius Professor of Hebrew at the University of Oxford, will argue that, although Hebrew did not start out as a holy tongue, over time it really did become one. Join us to learn the story of this fascinating development from one of the world's leading authorities on the Hebrew language and the Bible. Professor Juoosten's talk will be followed by a discussion with Gary Rendsburg, Blanche and Irving Laurie Professor of Jewish History at Rutgers University.
This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition 500 Years of Treasures from Oxford. The exhibition gallery will be open for viewing before and after the program. For more information on the exhibition, please visit cjh.org/oxford.

Because I taught Alexander the Great, I'm the great Aristotle
Alexander the Great, I'm the great Aristotle
Alexander the Great, I'm the great Aristotle
Alexander the Great, I'm so great (great, great, great, great, great)
If you're a polytheist, you should be thanking Zeus
For all the Greek achievements that they've passed down to you
'Cause you got Democracy from the folks in Athens &
Our alphabet is from the Phoenicians
Minoans and Mycenaeans
worked at their sailing trade
Around an acropolis they'd build a city-state
Wasn't much farming soil, barely enough
On the peninsulas of Attica and Peloponnesus
So in Athens they'd given their citizens voting rights (rule by the people)
But in Sparta they were doing their duty and trained to fight (their duty, duty, for their oligarchy)
Though the Spartans had helots, they were jealous of Athens' power (Athens' jury and assembly)
With their allies they all fought the Peloponnesian War
It was a battle between city-states, city-states
A battle between two city-states, city-states
A battle that ends the Golden Age, Golden Age
A battle where Pericles was slain by a plague (ugh!)
Then Macedonians
Invaded from the north in a phalanx
Phillip II fought on horses' backs
The Greeks got warnings from Demosthenes the Orator but Phillip's cavalries won
His son Alexander spread Greek culture through his empire (mixing the traditions)
With a library in Alexandria on the Nile (they built a Pharos, it's a giant lighthouse)
Hellenism spread eastward till he died in Babylon (His generals split his Empire)
He should have prayed to Athena inside of the Parthenon
It's like a tragedy by Sophocles, Sophocles, Greek Drama
Or by Euripides, Euripides, Greek Drama
Or Aristophanes, Aristophanes, Greek Drama
It's like a tragedy, tragedy
It's like the Iliad and Odyssey, Odyssey by Homer
It's like the Iliad and Odyssey, by Homer
It's like the Iliad and Odyssey by Homer
It's like the Iliad and Odyssey
That's right I taught Alexander the Great, I'm the great Aristotle
Alexander the Great, I'm the Great Aristotle
Alexander the Great, I'm the Great Aristotle
Alexander the Great, I'm so great
I learned from philosophy from Socrates, Socrates, I'm Plato
I learned from philosophy from Socrates, Socrates, I'm Plato
I learned from philosophy from Socrates, Socrates, I'm Plato

The Lost Civilization of the Sun - A MISSING LINK IN OUR PAST
Most are familiar with stories of the lost civilization of Atlantis, but in this video I explain that there is another lost civilization that lies even closer to us in time and gave rise to similar megalithic sites, and the spread of the same religion across the world. Everything in this video is based on evidence.
