Icona Galerija Beograd
This is a nice little gallery of icons and relics from many of the monasteries and churches in Kosovo Metohija . I apologize for it being so short, but I didn't want to interrupt the other guests.
This museum is a few blocks from the Kalemegdan Fortress and Knez M street. The entrance is 100 dinars and you get to take some free postcards.

#96S - Belgrade, Serbia - Novi Beograd, Zemun Quay and Gardoš (08/2013)
From some new spots around Novi Beograd (New Belgrade),by the Ušće shopping mall and the Danube river, I will first take you to see the new part of the Quay, which has great feel to it and a great potential. Then up, through narrow, old streets, with lots of charm, to the amazing Millennium Tower in Gardoš, built more than 100 years ago. And the view from up there, over the Danube and much of Novi Beograd, is just incredible.
This is not an adrenalin ride. This one is to enjoy some of the best spots in Belgrade and keep track of its development.
Special greeting goes to people who work on preservation of monuments and old buildings. We should be looking towards the future, but humanity is more than just what it is today. It is everything it ever was and it is important to keep our past just as alive as our future.
Filmed in August 2013.

Belgrade National Museum
8/3 Saturday
We have a few more museums to see today, another hot and sunny summer day. We come first to the Museum of Serbia. There are crowns and scepters and royal robes, uniforms, weaponry and artifacts from members of the Royal family, several of who me were victims of assassination. A woman touring the museum with her friend and elderly aunt asks me What do you think of this museum? You see we had a royal family, we had such a history
A little further on, we come to the National Museum of Art, which is mostly closed with years-long reconstruction. Since most of the museum is closed, our tickets include entry to two other museums, which we can use tomorrow. The main hall has an exhibition of the Emperor Constantine, nice enough.
The hot afternoon sun makes us want to go to the movies. There aren't many theaters in Belgrade, but a newer one is just a few blocks from our apartment. It's quite nice, a maze of screens in an old building, decorated with American classic movie motifs. Our movie, Man of Steel, is playing in the James Dean room. We enjoy going to the movies, so at least we have something to see, but the choices are generally limited to blockbuster mainstream films, shown in English with regional language subtitles. We get stuck with an awful lot of CGI epic robot battle scenes, apocalyptic planet destructions and endless exploding car chases. Small-budget indie films just aren't available.

Mileseva Monastery and Sirogojno's Open Air Museum, Serbia
Mileseva Monastery was founded around 1234 and dedicated to the White Angel fresco. This famous fresco is considered to be the supreme achievement of European painting at that time. It depicts an angel sitting in front of the tomb of Christ.
The powers that be didn't want to let us in at first because the Serbian Prime Minister was coming tomorrow but they finally relented. Once again, no photography inside.
Continuing on to Sirogojno, a living, open air museum for one night, a long, butt-numbing drive. It was now after 6:00p and this visit would have be pushed into tomorrow. Are we going to play catch up for the rest of the trip?

/ I plan to create a site about religion. All big religions are petals of only one Flower. People have forgotten that they are not alone in the cosmos and that some other higher power rules us from above, which can be called by various names. It is God,or universal Mind,as we can read often in literature..call it whatever you want,God is one for all and we are all very closely connected. As representatives of this civilization, people have alienated themselves from God. Their level of awareness is low, they run only for profit, forgetting to be compassionate,to help the weak, they are turning greedy.Hence, they do not work on raising the level of personal spirituality,as a civilized moment demands. The man is almost completely alienated from nature and does not function according to natural, cosmic laws which have been given to this civilization as a code. Another reason is the full materialization of the world, money is the most important thing, spirituality is generally a matter of one's image, not the essence of being. Therefore Planet punishes with floods,cyclones,misery,fear,illness.. There is hatred and negative information inside people. All this will lead to great cataclysm. However, there is not going to be the end of civilization in 2012 as we have read in many magazines and heard some statements from people who consider themselves prophets. There are going to be natural disasters at first and then our Planet will react.A quantitative leap of civilization follows.Whoever manages to accustom himself in a new dimension is going to remain. In the decades to follow, money will not have value, only the personal growth of each individual will count. How well we built our inner being for achieving earthly task for which we were born.

The Renaissance Ensemble - Serbia
Renaissance Ensemble Serbia is the first early music ensemble in south-eastern Europe and Serbia, having been founded in 1968. Ensemble Renaissance usually focuses on the music of the Middle ages, Renaissance and Baroque. Occasionally, however, Ensemble performs modern music (like the Beatles) on ancient instruments.
The Renaissance Ensemble from Belgrade began its life in the autumn of 1968, when they played early music scores on historical instruments that Dragan Mlađenovic-Shakespeare had brought from Prague and Vienna. The founders of the Ensemble, Miomir Ristić, Ljubomir Dimitrijević and Dragan Mlađenovic (supported by two ladies Dušica Obradović and Iskra Uzelac) gave their first concert on January 14, 1970 in the Gallery of Frescoes in Belgrade. On November 4, 1971 in the hall of newly established Students Cultural Centre (SKC), the ensemble organized a concert of medieval and Renaissance court music. For the next ten years ensemble will attract numerous audience to the baroque hall of this institution, especially younger people. The ensemble began its numerous and important tours outside Belgrade and Serbia in 1975, with visits to Zagreb, Zadar (“Musical Evenings in St. Donatus”) and Dubrovnik. Critics reviewed every performance of the ensemble. By 1979 Renaissance had performed in all major cities of ex-Yugoslavia; the ensemble began its numerous tours abroad. That year they performed in Helsinki and in Provence. On 26 April 1979, on the occasion of its tenth anniversary, the ensemble organized a big concert at the Atrium of the National Museum in Belgrade. During their highly eventful international career, Renaissance organized concerts all over Europe, Middle East and North Africa. In its forty-year-long history the Renaissance Ensemble gave more than 3,000 concerts all around Europe. Many splendid commentaries of music critics witness the artistic success of the Renaissance Ensemble.

Serbia Reopens National Museum After 15 Years
Serbia's newly renovated National Museum in Belgrade is set to open its doors to visitors on July 28 after 15 years. A day before the reopening, journalists were invited to see artifacts ranging from classical sculpture to contemporary art. Some 400,000 items are in the permanent collection. This video is brought to you by himshila in association with BBG
The most beautiful Serbian Monasteries and Churches
Unique in their architecture, sculpture and ornamentation, frescoes, icons, manuscripts and numerous works of applied art, the monasteries of Serbia have long been a focus of attention for tourists and mediaeval art experts alike.
The architecture of mediaeval Serbian monasteries is particularly varied. During the 13thand into the 14thcentury some of the most striking churches were built, whose proportions and decorative façade and sculptural work suggest Romanesque influence (Studenica, Banjska, Dečani, Gradac, Arilje, Mileševa, Sopoćani and others). These are referred to as belonging to the Raška School. The first half of the 14thcentury during the reign of King Milutin saw the construction of works of exceptional architecture and artwork, such as Gračanica.
The period after 1371 saw the rise of a characteristic architectural style called the Morava School in the Morava river valley, with its multicoloured façades and decorative relief work, (e.g. Ravanica, Lazarica, Ljubostinja and Kalenić).
Mediaeval monasteries and churches are not just features on the landscape of Serbia, they are features of the soul of Serbia, as well as being art galleries in a very real sense. The frescoes and icons in Serbia’s churches are a significant part of Serbia’s cultural, historical and national wealth.
One of the greatest Serbian Orthodox holy places is Hilandar, a Serbian monastery located on the northern part of the ‘Holy Mountain’ of Mount Athos –a‘monastic republic’ formed of 20 major monasteries, situated on the third leg of the Halkidiki peninsula in northern Greece. The monastery of Hilandar was built by Stefan Nemanja and his sons, the monk Sava and Stefan Prvovenčani (‘the First-Crowned’) in 1198......
