DJI Phantom - Marysville Victoria - Bushfire recovery - High Altitude
Got some good aerial footage of Marysville and the surrounding district. Flew the Phantom at Gallipoli Park. Great to see the town making a recovery after the devastating bushfires back in February 2009. Will never be the same as it was, but still a great destination for a motorbike ride. Highest altitude - 154 meters. Max speed - 48km/h.

Marysville -- We Wish You Were Here
Both of the properties were destroyed in the Black Saturday bushfires in 2009.
Dalrymples B & B Guest Cottages were rebuilt as four uniquely different self-contained architect-designed cottages and reopened for business in May 2012. Situated in the heart of Marysville and on over an acre of beautiful private gardens, Dalrymples offer couples a peaceful place to enjoy a special holiday in comfort and quality away from the everyday stresses of life.
We have just re-built our Amelina Cottages at 1120 Buxton Road, Marysville on the site formerly known as Melina Cottages — which were lost in the bushfires. The four cottages are quality self-contained and self catered for accommodation available for small families and couples.
Marysville now is very exciting -- we have worked hard to rebuild the properties and now we are back in business. It has been a long journey with amazing stories along the way.
There are lots of things happening in Marysville now -- it is all very exciting to be part of the new development of Marysville, to see the new buildings, shops and businesses opening up. We are looking forward to see what happens.
People think they are coming up to see a burnt out township like in the images from the Black Saturday bushfires but nature has intervened along with all of the rain and has rejuvenated the bush, the trees, the mountains and the valleys and the landscape has all grown back very green and beautiful.
Many scenic walks in and around Marysville have been re-established and some people say to us -- Where was the fire?
The gardens on the Dalrymples property are amazing after almost five years, we have retained a few big trees that did survive the fires. Some trees that did not survive were milled and put into constructing the pergola and other features on the property. So it is nice to retain some history with the property. The garden was re-established and replanted and is growing so well now.
We want people to come up to Marysville and enjoy the town's hospitality and tell their friends and other people how good it is now.
It's exciting to see what's going to happen and what the future will be for Marysville.
The new Vibe Hotel and Convention Centre will be good for the town and encourage employment -- it will help keep our kids here having the additional prospects of employment.
Marysville in five years....It will be an exciting and beautiful place to visit and live. We already have new people coming to town to build new homes and live here. There are retirees seeking a new lifestyle but also younger people interested in buying and living here.
We Wish You Were Here
