Harvesting Wild Rice at Gamiing Nature Centre
Each year on the second weekend of September a workshop of traditional wild rice harvesting takes place at Gamiing Nature Centre in Lindsay, Ontario. Learn more with Mieke Schipper and John Wager from Gamiing Nature Centre.

1884 Pigeon Lake Rd in the Kawarthas ( just north of Omeeme, and 17 kms directly east of Lindsay -follow Queen out of town - turns into Pigeon Lk rd) - ) 100 acres of protected wilderness.

Annual Music Festival promoting and supporting, conservation and education
and hosted by the Gamiing Center for Nature( formerly the Pigeon Lake Env. Assoc.), a not for profit operation.
Tonnes of trails, Local music talent like Kirby and Yates and the Lil Big Band,puppeteers, guest speakers, eco exibits, great food by local college chefs and even beer and wine from local producers.

We're bringing opera to the people this Thanksgiving! On October 13, tune in to CBC Gem for a livestream of Puccini's classic La Bohème, live from Toronto's historic Tranzac Club. The acclaimed 19th-century opera has been reimagined with a contemporary twist by Against the Grain Theatre, which sees the Italian libretto translated into English and transports you from Paris's Latin-quarter to your local Canadian bar.

On September 27, La Bohème hit the road on a cross-Canada tour kicking things off in Banff, Alberta. They'll be performing in bars across Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon and Ontario, then landing in Toronto for a two-week residency.
Presented by Against the Grain Theatre, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and CBC Arts, we'll be livestreaming La Bohème straight to your living room (or cell phone). Think the Metropolitan Opera's Live in HD but scrappier. The La Bohème broadcast will be hosted by CBC's Lindsay Michael, co-host and producer of Podcast Playlist and a trained opera singer herself.
La Bohème follows a group of young artists through life, love and loss. Rodolfo (Marcel d'Entremont), is an aspiring screenplay writer who falls in love with Mimì (Jonelle Sills), a florist and sewing enthusiast. Meanwhile their friend Marcello (Clarence Frazer), an OCAD U-trained illustrator, is in an on-and-off again relationship with his flirty, unfaithful sweetheart, Musetta (Danika Lorèn). La Bohème is directed by AtG founder and artistic director Joel Ivany with music director David Eliakis at the piano.
