In February 2018, I visited Ganpatipule and other popular places near Ratnagiri. Magical beaches of the west coast of Maharashtra ( Kokan) always entice me, and this year wasn't any different.
From holy grounds of Ganpatipule temple to the Mindblowing peaks of Ratnadurga fort, every minute of this trip was worth capturing.
Hope I am able to transport the beauty of kokan, as experienced, through this Indian travel vlog.

1.Ganapatipule Temple & Beach: One of the most spectacular beaches (12 kms away) along the Konkan Coastline: an idyllic getaway that attracts peace-seekers, beach lovers, and pilgrims alike. The temple of self-originated Ganesh is much frequented by thousands every year.
2.Aare-Ware Beach: around 5 kms away is this virgin, beautiful beach.
3. Jaigad Fort: Resting on a cliff, at the entrance of the Sangameshwar river just 35 km away from Ganapatipule, is Jaigad Fort. This 17th century fort offers a commanding view of the sea and an almost unique view of Konkan village life.
4.Ratnagiri: The region has a long illustrious past and is even mentioned in Indian mythology as the place where the Pandavas settled after their 13-year pilgrimage. There are three main attractions here;
a. The Thibaw Palace - The Thibaw Palace is where Thibaw, the last king of Burma, was incarcerated by the British in 1885.
b. The Lokmanya Tilak Smarak - Ratnagiri was also the birthplace of Lokmanya Tilak, one of India’s greatest freedom fighters. His house, now a memorial called The Lokmanya Tilak is diligently maintained by the local community.
c. Patit Pawan Mandir - The Patit Pawan Mandir is a much revered temple, as it is the first place of worship built for non-Brahmins by the revolutionary leader, Veer Savarkar.

गणपतीपुळे हे रत्नागिरी जिल्ह्यातील प्रसिद्ध पर्यटनस्थळ आहे. येथील गणपतीची मूर्ती स्वयंभू आहे अशी मान्यता आहे. सह्याद्री पर्वतातील डोंगराळ भागात विराजलेली नैसर्गिक मूर्ती आणि जवळच पश्चिमेला अरबी समुद्र ह्यामुळे हे देऊळ आगळेवेगळे आहे. गणपतीची मूर्ती डोंगराच्या बाजूला असल्याने तिला प्रदक्षिणा घालण्यासाठी संपूर्ण डोंगराला प्रदक्षिणा घालणे क्रमप्राप्त असते. १ किलोमीटर लांबीचा हा प्रदक्षिणामार्ग समुद्र, वाळूचा किनारा आणि नारळ पोफळीच्या झाडांमुळे अतिशय विलोभनीय आहे.

गणपतीपुळे हे रत्नागिरीपासून सुमारे २४ किलोमीटर अंतरावर आहे. महाराष्ट्र राज्य परिवहन मंडळ (S.T.) मुंबई, पुणे, कोल्हापूर, नाशिक इत्यादी शहरांपासून गणपतीपुळे येथे जाण्यासाठी थेट बससेवा पुरवते.

गणपतीपुळे येथे महाराष्ट्र राज्य पर्यटन विकास महामंडळ (M.T.D.C.)चे विश्रामगृह आहे. त्याशिवाय देवळातील भटजींच्या घरीसुद्धा राहण्याची सोय होऊ शकते.

Ganpatipule is typically clubbed with Ratnagiri and other smaller villages like Velneshwar, Malgund and Pawas for a perfect 2-3 day trip.
