Gandhi Hall Indore

The Gandhi Hall was originally known as King Edward Hall, but H. H. Yeshwant Rao Holkar II (reign: 1926 - 1948) renamed it in 1948, after the death of Mahatma Gandhi ! This town hall was designed & constructed by architect Mr. Charles Frederick Stevens from Mumbai at a cost of Rs. 2,50,000 and was inaugurated by Prince of Wales, George V in 1905 ! It was made in the Indo-Gothic style, made of White stones from Seoni & Red stones from Patan in M. P., has magnificent domes and minarets, and a huge clock-tower !

This town hall, known as Gandhi Hall, is a major venue for art and cultural exhibitions, with a central hall of capacity to accommodate 2,000 people and grounds for even bigger events ! The State Government lights up this building in tri-colour on all three national festivals !

महात्मा गांधी टाउन हॉल मध्य भारत के राज्य मध्य प्रदेश के नगर इन्दौर की एक ऐतिहासिक इमारत है। यह इमारत ब्रिटिश काल की है और तब समय बताने का कार्य भी करती थी और इसे घंटाघर भी कहते थे। इस इमारत में वर्ष पर्यन्त विभिन्न प्रकार के सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम आयोजित होते रहते हैं।[1] इस इमारत का निर्माण १९०४ में किया गया था और तब इसका नाम किंग एडवर्ड हॉल रखा गया था। सन् १९४७ में भारत के स्वतंत्र होने के बाद इसका नाम गांधी हाल कर दिया गया। हॉल में बच्चों के लिए पार्क और एक पुस्तकालय भी है।
Mahatma Gandhi Town Hall in central Indiastate of Madhya Pradesh city of Indore is a historic building. This building was of British period and then used to tell the time and it was also called Ghumghar. Various types of cultural programs are organized throughout the year. [1] This building was constructed in 1904 and was then named King Edward Hall. After India became independent in 1947, its name was changed to Gandhi. The hall also has a park for children and a library.
