GANGA LAKE, ITANAGAR ARUNACHAL PRADESH.
Ganga Lake or Gyakar Sinyik (in Nyishi dialect) is a lake in Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. It is one of the most popular places in Itanagar. People from all around visit this place as a recreation spot and for the picture perfect view of this lake. Because the lake is still with no connection with moving water bodies, its color is green. The lake is surrounded by all round natural vegetation and trees. The lake is situated at 1200 feet above the sea level. Many mythological rumors about the Ganga Lake and its color are heard still. One of the famous myth is the story of the Tai Bida and his thousand mithun (Gayal). stories has that Tai Bida found a wild mithun( Gayal ) and domesticated it. It was believed to be supernatural and a gift from the spirit world. That particular mithun bore him thousands of mithun as per the story. One day Bida thought of sacrificing the mtihun for some ritual function and brought the animal from the forest as mithuns are semi- domesticated animals and live in the forest. Upon hearing the conversation of Bida to sacrifice her in the next day the mithun ran off with all her offsprings and later drown in this Gyakar Sinyik. Nobody saw the thousand mithuns drowning in the lake but story has that Bida searched for the lost mithun by following the footprints of the mithuns and all the foot printed went and ended on the shore of the lake.
