Knysna South Africa - The Heart of the Garden Route | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids
Located on South Africa’s famous Garden Route, Knysna (pronounced as ‘ny-zah’), is one of the country’s most famous locations. It is a natural paradise of lush, indigenous forests, tranquil lakes, wildlife and golden beaches. The breathtakingly pretty lagoon is now a protected marine reserve that is home to the extraordinary sea horse and over 200 species of fish.
The endangered Knysna seahorse is named after the town and can be spotted during a good snorkeling session in the estuary.
We really enjoyed the view from the heads - a striking geological spot made up of a pair of huge, brightly coloured cliffs lying at the mouth of the lagoon, flanking a channel of potentially treacherous water that flows into Knysna lagoon. We were told that from the banks of the rocks we could see whales because Knysna is on the migratory route of the Southern Right and other species but unfortunately we weren't able to see one these marine mammals.
Enjoy the video and let us know where you’re watching from!

Garden Route Snorkeling - free diving beyond the rock pools at Gericke's Point
Gericke's Point is a snorkeling paradise in the Garden Route. Ranging from enclosed rock pools to open sea ledges and reef, there is a chance to see both seasonal tropical species and perennial resident species of marine lufe.

Knysna (South-Africa) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Knysna in South-Africa.
Two impressive sandstone cliffs known as The Heads flank the magnificent lagoon of Knysna on the South African coast close to the Indian Ocean. The Knysna Lagoon is not only popular with tourists as the combination of both salt and freshwater from the Outeniqua Mountains also attracts many endangered species of fish. The lagoon is home to the rare Knysna Seahorse that is otherwise known as the Hipocampus Capensis. Moving inland from the estuary and the two Heads the water becomes increasingly calm. Indeed it is difficult to believe that only a few kilometres away lies one of the most treacherous and feared coastlines in the world. But beyond the lagoon's rocks and boulders all is peaceful and idyllic, a place where ornithologists can observe a large variety of birdlife. Due to its magnificent location close to forests, mountains and ocean in addition to its increasing number of leisure facilities, Knysna is one of South Africa's most popular Garden Route destinations.

Aerial footage - Brenton on Sea Beach - Gardenroute Knysna South Africa Part 2 of 20
ENGLISH:
Brenton on Sea is situated on the scenic Garden Route coastline and nestles between the Indian Ocean and the hills of the Western Head of Knysna's Estuary, a 16 km drive from Knysna
in Eden District Municipality in the Western Cape province of South Africa.
Northward and Westward are the Outeniqua Mountains rising behind Knysna and the Lagoon providing a majestic and distant backdrop Southward the Indian Ocean stretches uninterrupted towards the Antarctic. Westward, the sweep of Brentons 4km sandy beach touches Buffels Bay, but the view draws
one on, past Mossel Bay, to the lights of Gouritsmond, in some 130kms distance. It is a breathtaking holiday location and a nature lover's paradise with its unspoilt beaches and peaceful surroundings. Brenton is the ideal backdrop to relax on the beach with beautiful views and dramatic sunsets.
Named after Sir Jahleel Brenton, who declared Knysna a harbour in 1818, the area is home to the endangered Brenton Blue butterfly
The new Hotel Brenton Haven was opened in Dezember 2014 and offers beautiful beachfront accommodation as Beach Homes or Luxury Suites. Many have fallen in love with this little sleepy hollow suburb of Knysna and some even describe it has having “Champagne air”. Brenton Haven is perched on a dune above the main beach, with spectacular 180 degree ocean view, which provides guests with the perfect opportunity to see hundreds of dolphins passing, or whales playing in the waves.
Escape to South Africa’s haven of nature, Brenton on Sea in Knysna, where you will experience the best of the world-renowned Garden Route.
Knysna is famous for its abundance of nature experiences on offer, come and spot your first Loerie, or walk with an elephant. There’s so much to do in this busy little coastal town. It
combines the historical with the modern, the energetic with the restful and the vibrant with the tranquil. Enjoy fine art, brilliant shopping and excellent restaurants. Indulge in Knysna’s most
famous export, fresh oysters grown right here in the Knysna estuary. Explore our forests and dive into outdoor adventures like horse riding, treetop canopy swinging, hiking, golf, yachting,
fishing, and canoeing. For a pure adrenalin rush get into the more extreme sports of abseiling, paragliding, scuba diving or water skiing and some of the best mountain bike routes in the
country.

Knysna Heads has two dangerous bars to cross. Best attempted at low slack water and less than 3m swell. However, once in the Lagoon it is well protected and with good amenities.

George To Knysna By 7 Passes - A Garden Route Road Trip Via The Back Roads
The N2 National Road between #George and #Knysna in the South Africa Garden Route is a pretty scenic one. But if you want really spectacular scenery with mountain passes, historic bridges, dairy farms, mountains, and scenery that wouldn't be out of place in parts of Europe, this is for you. It's around 20 Km longer than the N2 National Road, and has several gravel stretches, but it's totally doable with an ordinary sedan car, a #4x4 isn't a necessity. There are some really good restaurants and tea rooms along the way and did I mention the scenery?

We're Chris and Birgit from Kangela Travels; currently living in the beautiful Garden Route of South Africa (but prone to hit the road to somewhere else at any time). Our passion is to travel, and we’ve been fortunate enough to have done our share of exploring the world, camera in hand. We're travel fanatics, keen anglers, photographers and occasional travel bloggers, with a particular weakness for road trips, the great open spaces of Africa, tropical Islands and Europe’s culture and history. But actually, we're fans of anywhere that we haven’t yet been, wherever that might be.

Gerrikas Point a Garden Route secret .
This is a short video of our adventure to Gerrikas Point just outside Sedgefield on the Garden Route. This is a beautiful walk where you will need to get to the Swartvlei beach parking and from there take the 1.5 km walk to the point. This is always best done on the low tides if you would like to explore around the point.
This is one of my favorite Garden route Gems.
I hope you like the video.
I have used the music from a local artist named:
Reinhardt Buhr Wild lettuce this is off an album called
Nawn Anoited
