The Blue City of Bundi, India: Magnificent Moti Mahal Garh Palace
If you have never been to Bundi, try not to miss it. Palaces, and I do mean palaces, are surrounded by fort walls, that stretch into infinity and beyond. Owned by a Maharajah that doesn't doesn't want to fully restore the Moti Mahal, and two other palaces in the next video, they have the most incredibly gorgeous rooms filled to the max with paintings in Bundi style.
Vivid, colorful, story telling paintings on walls, ceilings, gold niches, go on and on. We visited Bundi in February but my camcorder went ka-ka in Bundi and it took forever to edit and smooth clips. I thought it was worth the effort since neither Steve nor I have ever seen such a collection. Enjoy...
BUNDI - RAJASTHAN - Bundi Garh Palace
Bundi is dominated by its Tatagarh Fort and the Bundi Garh Palace that loom over the city located in a valley. It is just a pleasure to spend a couple of hours wandering around this palace that for the most part has not been restored. It is notable for its lavish traditional murals and frescoes. The Chitrashala (picture gallery) of the palace is open to the general public.

#41 BUNDI PALACE, FORT AND HOW TO MAKE THE BEST MASALA CHAI
We've taken a couple of the public buses in India now and they aren't as bad as I first imagined. Sure the seats are worn and they have never been cleaned EVER and they are held together with rust but they get us from A to B cheaply. Adjmer to Bundi was 5 hours and cost 320 INR
We were staying at Haveli Katkoun which was the biggest room we have ever had and for only 800 INR. We had a bay window and even a seating area which we don't normally get on a backpacker budget.
The main tourist attraction in Bundi is the Palace and Fort. We spent a whole day having a good look round and taking in the views over Bundi. The Palace isn't best looked after and is kind of falling apart. In a whimsical way it kind of added to the charm of the place.
We visited a chai shop in Bundi who claims to have the best masala chai we will ever have. I have to say, from the get go I believe him. We don't normally see the chai stalls make the chai from scratch but this guy gets the spices, turns them into powder on the floor in front of him using a rock and throws it in the pot with milk. He gets it boiling to make sure the masala really works and has a special way of pouring it. It was awesome. Definitely the best masala chai we've ever had.
We watched the sunset from one of the roof top bars and I had a desert called Hello to the Queen. I've had a few of these in India and OMG they are amazing. Its kind of like a broken shortbread biscuit, fried in butter then hot banana, chocolate, condensed milk and ice cream are added. For a massive bowl it only costs 80 INR. I have to stop eating so many though!
The following morning we started the day at a road side stall with a couple of samosas and chai's. We had a wander round the big lake before heading to another roof top restaurant for a thali. We decided to treat ourselves and have a fancy special thali which included 3 curries, rice, pakoras, puri breads, salad and an indian doughnut thing. A huge tray of food for 160 INR (£1.89).

In 2007 my wife and I travelled to India. We came across this beautiful place called Bundi with the Taragarh-Fort and the Garh Palace. Such a great place. As the only tourists in the palace ee were lucky enough to experience a temple tour by a guide.
But we didn´t understand him. Everything we understood was Maharaja hunting tiger.

तारागढ का दुर्ग राजस्थान में अरावली पर्वत पर स्थित है।इसे 'राजस्थान का जिब्राल्टर राजसथान कि कुजी' भी कहा जाता है। अजमेर शहर के दक्षिण-पश्चिम में ढाई दिन के झौंपडे के पीछे स्थित यह दुर्ग तारागढ की पहाडी पर 700 फीट की ऊँचाई पर स्थित हैं। इस क़िले का निर्माण 11वीं सदी में सम्राट अजय पाल चौहान ने विदेशी या तुर्को के आक्रमणों से रक्षा हेतु करवाया था। क़िले में एक प्रसिद्ध दरगाह और 7 पानी के झालरे भी बने हुए हैं। बूंदी का किला 1426 फीट ऊचें पर्वत शिखर पर बना है मेवाड़ के एक शासक पृथ्वीराज सिसोदिया ने अपनी पत्नी तारा के कहने पर इस का पुनः विकसित किया गया जिसके कारण यह तारागढ़ के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है।
पहाड़ी की खड़ी ढलान पर बने इस दुर्ग में प्रवेश करने के लिए तीन विशाल द्वार बनाए गए हैं। इन्हें लक्ष्मी पोल, फूटा दरवाजा और गागुड़ी का फाटक के नाम से जाना जाता है। महल के द्वार हाथी पोल पर बनी विशाल हाथियों की जोड़ी है।इस किले के भीतर बने महल अपनी शिल्पकला एंव भित्ति चित्रों के कारण अद्वितिय है। इन महलों में छत्रमहल, अनिरूद्ध महल, रतन महल, बादल महल और फुल महल प्रमुख है।
गर्भ गुंजन-किले की भीम बुर्ज पर रखी गर्भ गुंजन तोप अपने विशाल आकार और मारकक्षमता से शत्रुओं के छक्के छुड़ाने का कार्य करती थी। आज भी यह तोप यहां रखी हुई है लेकिन वर्तमान में यह सिर्फ प्रदर्शन की वस्तु बनकर रह गई है। कहा जाता है जब यह तोप चलती थी तब इसकी भयावह गर्जना से उदर में झंकार हो जाती थी। इसीलिए इसका नाम गर्भगुंजन रखा गया। सोलहवीं सदी में यह तोप कई मर्तबा गूंजी थी।
