The rapids vary from easy to hardest from 1st to 5th grade.

Here too, we encounter 7 rapids including big and small ones. This short trip is a great way of getting a quick taste of the sport. Although it does have Grade III and III+ rapids, beginners too can enjoy this trip under the guidance of our rafting instructors.

The town of Khirsu has three seasons – summer, winter and monsoon. The climate that the town of Khirsu experiences is sub tropical, where summers are warm and not too hot and winters are cold. The best time to visit the town of Khirsu would be during the summer months, when people normally flock to Khirsu in order to escape the heat experienced in the mainland.

Summers in the town of Khirsu run through the months of April, May and June, and these three months will experience a maximum temperature of around forty five degrees (45°C) and a minimum temperature of around twenty nine degrees (29°C). This is a good time to visit the hill station.

The monsoon months of July, August and September experience moderate rainfall, and this is not an ideal time to visit Khirsu as your travel around the town will be affected due to rains.

Winters in the town of Khirsu normally extend through the months of October, November, December and January. These months will experience a maximum temperature of around twenty five degrees (25°C) and a minimum temperature of around zero degrees (0°C). The early winter months are also a good time to visit Khirsu.

How to reach Khirsu : A motorable road connects Khirsu with Pauri, the nearest town. Pauri is well connected through roads with Dehradun, Rishikesh and Kotdwar. But, a trek from Pauri, down the Kandoliya hills offers the most exciting alternative route to Khirsu.

The Total Tons River Rafting Expedition in Uttarakhand, India

The Tons was explored by the late Jack Morison, longtime Sobek guide and founder of White Magic, in 1986.
In 2005, Aquaterra Adventures did the first successful descent of the whole river in almost twenty years. Adrenaline pumping river days are followed by relaxed afternoons, to be spent under leafy alders, taking short hikes into the alpine forests and camping out near fields of calf-high mint and marijuana.
This was a very special trip, led by Sobek founder John Yost that included Jack’s two sons Walker Morison and Griffin Morison honoring that history.

Rafting in Rishikesh is very common Adventure , charges is only 300 indian Rupees.

Rishikesh, world-renowned as the River Rafting Capital of India, offers some of the most sought after rafting tours. There are mainly four starting points for rafting in Rishikesh, namely Kaudiyala(35km, 5hrs), Shivpuri (16km, 3hrs), Marine drive (27km, 4hrs), and Brahmapuri (9km, 2hrs).The 16 km stretch from Shivpuri to Lakshman Jhula, rich with whirlpools, on the Ganges River at Rishikesh is acclaimed as one of India’s most popular stretches for white water rafting. In fact, with about 13 curiously named rapids like the Roller Coaster, Return to Sender, Three Blind Mice, Tee Off, Double Trouble and Golf Course, ranging from grade 1 to grade 4, along this stretch, it is a perfect escapade for amateur rafters as well as the hardened veterans. In the grade 4 rapids, the currents are so powerful that once in the water, one can get sucked in instantly for over a couple of seconds and only expert maneuvering and firm rafting can save the day.

Being the nearest river rafting destination to Delhi, about 225 kms away, Rishikesh lures in many tourists every year looking to beat the summer heat and engage in adventure sports. It is well connected via road to most of northern India with regular bus service to Rishikesh from Haridwar, Delhi and Dehradun; the nearest airport is at Dehradun while the closest railway station is at Haridwar. Once at Rishikesh, hire a cab to reach the river camp and if possible, hire the cab for the complete stay to easily explore the famous religious hotspots in the vicinity like Haridwar.

The best time to go to Rishikesh is between September and June, when one can enjoy rafting along with the cool and serene white sand beaches set against the picturesque Kumaon Mountains. One can camp along the river banks at night and battle the rapids during the day to have an intense experience at Rishikesh.
