गिरिराज हिमालय की तलहटी में स्थित उत्तराखण्ड के प्रसिद्ध द्वारा रामनगर जिला नैनीताल के ललाट पर कल कल करती कौशिकी नदी की वेगवती जलधारा के मध्य में अनादि काल से स्थित रहना दैवीया शक्ति का प्रभाव माना जाता रहा है। यह केवल धर्मपरायण जनता का ही तीर्थ स्थल है। वरन देश व विदेशों के पर्यटकों का भी आकर्षण का केंद्र बिन्दु बना हुआ है। सदियों से नदी के लिए अविचल खड़ा है। यह स्थान महाभारत कालीन माना जाता है। यहां पर महाराजा वीराट ने ने मां गिरिजा शक्ति की उपासना की है। और कौशिकी ऋषि द्वारा भी मां गिरिजा की उपासना की गई है। इसलिए इस नदी का नाम पुराणों में कौशिकी नदी कहा गया है।

Ramnagar | Corbett National Park | Garjiya Devi Temple
Ramnagar is a small town and municipal board in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India. It is located approximately 65 kilometres (40 mi) from Nainital, the headquarters of the district.
Ramnagar is the gateway to the Corbett National Park, the oldest national park and a famous tourist destination of India. Garjiya Devi Temple and Sitabani temple, Sitabani Wildlife Reserve located nearby also attract many visitors.It has an average elevation of 345 metres (1,132 feet). Ramnagar is located at the foothills of the Himalayas on the bank of river Kosi. The town is visited by many tourists due to its geographical location near Corbett National Park. Its proximity to Nainital which is a famous hill station of Northern India makes it even more popular. There is a Kosi Barrage in Ramnagar where many migratory birds arrive in winter.
The town is named after British commissioner H. Ramsay who established it in 1856–1884 During the British rule in India[1] During the British Rule tea gardens were developed in Ramnagar and nearby villages in Uttarakhand. But these tea gardens have been closed since a long time. Ramnagar is most visited for Corbett National Park named after the hunter turned conservationist Jim Corbett who played a key role in its establishment. It is the oldest national park in India which was established in 1936. And ancient Hindu Temples like Garjia Devi Temple and Maa Sita Bani temple. Both of them carry a lot of myths and legends behind them, which attracts a huge number of visitors every year.

Corbett National Park is 10 km from Ramnagar. It is spread across 86 km north of Ramnagar. Established in 1936 as the Hailey National Park, Corbett National Park is the oldest and one of the most sought after national parks in India. It is India's first sanctuary to come under Project Tiger. The park was named after the hunter-naturalist turned author and photographer, Jim Corbett who lived in the region and contributed in setting up this park. Visitors can move about in vehicles (only local jypsies with the permit) inside the park area after making entries at the respective gates. Tourists now cannot drive their own cars inside Corbett. They have to hire jypsies with permits from Ramnagar. Permits are necessary for entering Corbett Tiger Reserve. Permits are issued at the CTR Reception Office at Ramnagar. Other places worth visiting in the region are the Crocodile Pool, Dhikala Machaan, Getheryo Library (Dhikala), Corbett Museum(Dhangadi gate), Corbett falls.

Travelling Ramnagar to Girija Devi Temple // Corbett city (Ramnagar)
Girija Devi Mandir (Temple) is very famous temple in uttarakhand. this is very holy place, temple called local language in Garjia Mandir. Girija Devi Temple is situated in Garjiya at a distance of 12 KM from RamNagar on Dhikala road. It is a sacred Shakti shrine where Garjiya Devi is the presiding deity. This temple is built on a rock in the middle of river Kosi and visited by thousands of devotees during Kartik Poornima, a Hindu holy day celebrated on the fifteenth lunar day of Kartik (November - December). It is also known as the festival of lights of the gods. Devi Girija is the daughter of Himalaya and wife of Lord Shiva. This temple was very less known till 1940 but in the recent years the strengths of devotees has increased to lakhs. The modern day temple was restructured in the year 1970. It is believed that the rock on which the temple is located came down during a flood in river Kosi.
Devi Girija is easily pleased with the true devotion of Her devotees. While praying, the devotees offer the Devi coconut, red clothes, kumkum etc.
There is a 4.5 feet high idol of Girija Devi along with the idols of Devi Saraswati, Lord Ganesha and Batuk Bhairava.
There is also a temple of Laxmi-Narayan in the same temple premesis. The idols of this temple were found during excavation here. It is believed that the prayers here are not complete untill the devotee worships Bhairava after worshipping Girija Devi.

Girija devi temple (गिरिजा देवी मंदिर ) is a famuos religious shrine located inside the Corbett National Park. It is wrongly pronounced as Garjiya temple which is not correct. As per the temple records in Hindi phonetic language correct spelling and pronunciation is 'Girija' which is the name of the deity whose idol is worship at the holy place. It is located on a large rock located right on the riverbed of Kosi river. The river floods sometimes during monsoon and proper care must be taken.
The nearest railway station is Ramnagar which is the entry point for Corbett National Park. It can be reached by Trains from Delhi or Moradabad. One can take buses from various parts of western UP , Delhi, Chandigarh even Himachal Pradesh. There are cheaper as well as luxurious buses that ply to Ramnagar including Volvo bus service. Another entry point could be Kashipur which is located about 50km from the site. People visiting IIM Kashipur can also make a visit to this place.
It would take about 5-6 hours if you drive from Delhi.
