Walking just North of the village of Slindon April 2011. Young lambs walk with their mothers and my faithful border collie sits obediently waiting to continue the walk! He has never bothered animals but we have him on the lead just in case.

Lamb being born - 2nd of evening, breech birth, to experienced mother: Mona
Early evening Feb. 24, 2012, when giving my livestock their evening feed, I noticed my mature ewe lying down with a glistening giant white bean near her rear end. I realized it was a lamb, still in its amniotic sac. I cleared off a little of the sac membrane, Mona worked on removing the rest, and that little lamb was soon up and running. I went up the hill to get a towel and my girlfriend, Holly. We toweled the lamb dry and moved it and mom to a warmer stall. After 20-30 minutes, Mona started giving birth to a second lamb, thus this video. Naming them Splotch and Breech. (The first lamb has tan markings on its neck and back suggesting the father is Prong, my American Blackbelly ram. The second being pure white, either the Katahdin genes suppressed the Blackbelly coloration completely, or Snaky, Mona's son fro a year ago, is the father of that one.)

Making It Grow - Whispering Pines
Team Making It Grow traveled to Whispering Pines in Mauldin, SC where Debbie Webster and her team provide not only products from their Sheep and Goat milk, but also extensive horseback riding lessons for children and adults. When we arrived, our host Clemson Extension Agent Amanda McNulty along with some local 4H’ers lent a helping hand as a mother sheep had just given birth to five little ones minutes earlier!
Sylvester & Reggie
Each year my friend cares for orphaned lambs to help out her farmer daughter during the busy lambing season and Sylvester was one of these. He somehow avoided the 'inevitable' by hiding when the rest of the lambs were taken away and was immediately given a reprieve by my friend. Reggie, the Scottish Terrier, is the resident pet dog and they hit it off immediately. The video was taken at Easter 2011 on the outskirts of a small village in North Yorkshire, England
