This experience was the highlight of our stay on the Amalfi Coast.
We started off with a hike through the wild land in the heart of Monterpertuso, foraging wild herbs, aromatic plants and flowers, learning about their gastronomic traditional and forgotten uses. Not only did we learn how to prepare a handful of delicious dishes but we also got to experience the amazing herbs and flowers of the region through Giacomo's guidance, passion and strong connection to the land.
Join me as I take you through our gastronomic journey and learn how to combine food and drinks in the best way!
First time but surely won’t be the last!

Ep 25 Exploring Positano Italy - Amalfi Coast
We enjoyed being tourists in Positano, Italy. We walked the narrow streets, shopped for jewelry and ceramics. Enjoyed a lively atmosphere at a restaurant off the beach and took a stroll thru the many Art galleries. Shopping is one of my favorite Positano activities! Everyone loves to find treasures. When it comes to the region's gastronomical specialties, we suggest you pick up and take home some delicious limoncello, as well as a few lemons: just sprinkle a few slices with sugar and enjoy. Nocino is another of the region's typical liqueurs, which is certain to bring a smile to the faces of your friends and relations. And why not take them a bag of excellent walnuts, which are plentiful in these parts. As well as these gastronomical specialties, in Amalfi you can also find scented candle sculptures, handmade silver jewelry, and embroidered cameos and tablecloths. To conclude this small shopping guide, Vietri has been renowned for centuries for its wonderful ceramic artists, while Positano is the ideal place to find a whole assortment of clothes, sandals, swimwear and other accessories. Remember to stop into Ceramica Assunte in Positano. They specialize in all kinds of ceramics and will ship your purchases back to your home if you like!

Ep 20 How To Make Traditional Italian Limoncello - Authentic Recipe From Positano Italy
Gerardina Cuccaro of B&B Casa Cuccaro in the village of Nocelle above Positano, Italy gave us the traditional and authentic limoncello recipe.
We enjoyed Gerardina's presentation and it we love to discover these authentic recipes on our travels around the world. This is what makes our adventures so special.
If you have ever been to Italy, you'll instantly know about Limoncello. Lemons seem to be one of the important staples in the food of Positano and the Amalfi Coast. The most famous product is Limoncello. Every store or restaurant has it's unique or favorite brand of Limoncello for sale or to taste. It is wonderful as a palate cleanser or as an after dinner drink. Limoncello is the generic name for an Italian citrus-based lemon liqueur that is served well chilled in the summer months. Limoncello is now considered the national drink of Italy and can be found in stores and restaurants all over Italy.
How to make Limoncello by Gerardina Cuccaro (Casa Cuccaro Nocelle, Italia)

TRENTO, ITALY: A TRIP IN THE CITY OF DOLOMITES
LET’S START OUR TRIP IN TRENTO BY THE NEPTUNE FOUNTAIN, THE ICON OF THE CITY OF DOLOMITES FOR OVER 250 YEARS. IT’S QUITE STRANGE THAT THE GOD OF THE SEA IS THE SYMBOL OF AN ITALIAN MOUNTAIN CITY, BUT YOU GOT TO KNOW THAT THE ANCIENT ROMAN NAME OF TRENTO WAS “TRIDENTUM”, THAT IS THREE TEETH, THE THREE HILLS OF THE CITY. THAT'S WHY THE GOD OF THE SEA, THE GOD WITH THE TRIDENT, OVERLOOKS THE MAIN FOUNTAIN OF THE MAIN SQUARE OF TRENTO. OUR TRAVEL CONTINUES WITH THE CATHEDRAL OF TRENTO. ON THE MAIN FACADE THE DOOR OF THE BISHOPS STANDS OUT, SO CALLED BECAUSE IT WAS THE ENTRANCE DOOR OF THE PROCESSION OF THE BISHOPS DURING THE COUNCIL OF TRENTO, WHICH TOOK PLACE FROM 1545 TO 1563 TO OPPOSE THE PRòTESTANT REFORMATION. THE ROSE WINDOW IS REALLY INTERESTING. IT IS CALLED THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE.
THE BUONCONSIGLIO CASTLE
IT IS ONE OF THE MAIN MONUMENTS IN THE DOLOMITES AND ONE OF THE BIGGEST FORTRESS IN NORTHERN ITALY. HISTORIC RESIDENCE OF THE PRINCE-BISHOPS UNTIL 1803 IT'S MADE OF SEVERAL BUILDINGS SURROUNDED BY PROTECTIVE WALLS. THE CASTLE IS POPULAR, NOT ONLY IN ITALY, FOR THE MANY PLASTERS AND FRESCOS, ESPECIALLY FOR THE FRESCO OF THE LOGGIA OF THE LIONS' YARD, A RENAISSANCE MASTERPIECE PAINTED BY GIROLAMO ROMANINO. FROM THE LOGGIA YOU ENTER THE EAGLE TOWER AND THE VERY FAMOUS CYCLE OF THE MONTHS, ONE OF THE BEST GOTHIC-STYLE PAINTINGS EVER MADE IN ITALY!
DURING THE I WORLD WAR THE THREE IRREDENTISTS CESARE BATTISTI, FABIO FILZI AND DAMIANO CHIESA WERE DECLARED TRAITORS AND EXECUTED HERE FOR BEING AUSTRIAN CITIZENS WHO VOLUNTARILY FOUGHT IN THE ITALIAN ARMY.
ITALY HISTORY - DOSS TRENTO
FEW YARDS FROM THE BUONCONSIGLIO CASTLE THE DOSS TRENTO HILL RISES ON THE TOWN OF TRENTO. ON THE TOP OF THE HILL IN 1935 THE MAUSOLEUM OF CESARE BATTISTI WAS BUILT. INSIDE, THE REMAINS OF THE SOLDIER AND HIS BUST SCULPTED BY THE LOCAL SCULPTOR ERALDO FOZZER.

OUR TRAVEL CONTINUES WITH THE GIANNI CAPRONI MUSEUM OF AERONAUTICS. GIANNI CAPRONI WAS AN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEER AND A PIONEER IN THE FIELD OF AVIATION. HE HAD THE IDEA OF NOT RE-USING HIS EARLIER INVENTIONS TO CREATE NEW AIRPLANES, BUT TO KEEP THEM IN HIS WORKSHOP, THAT IN 1927 BECAME THE FIRST AERONAUTICAL COLLECTION IN THE WORLD. IN THE MUSEUM THERE ARE MANY RARE AIRPLANES, AND THE EXHIBIT INCLUDES ENGINES, PROPELLERS, RELICS AND THE BIRTH OF CIVIL AVIATION IN ITALY

Migrant Market places: Food and Italians in North and South America
Elizabeth Zanoni, Old Dominion University
Italian immigrants to the United States and Argentina hungered for the products of home: Merchants imported Italian cheese, wine, olive oil, and other commodities to meet the demand. As a result, migrant marketplaces came into being—urban spaces linking a mobile people with mobile goods. Elizabeth Zanoni’s Migrant Marketplaces (University of Illinois Press, 2018) provides a comparative look at Italian people and products on the move between 1880 and 1940. Concentrating on the Italian food trade, largely through New York and Buenos Aires, the book reveals how these imports affected consumer habits and identities as well as connections between nationality, ethnicity, and gender. Women, who did most of the food buying and preparation, had particularly complex interactions in this societal arena that influenced both global trade and their community economies.
