National Infantry Museum, Ft. Benning, Columbus, Georgia, USA
The National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center is a museum located in Columbus, Georgia, just outside Fort Benning, the home of the infantry. The 190,000-square-foot museum opened in June 2009.
The facility tells the story of the United States Army infantryman, from the American Revolution to Afghanistan. The museum houses artifacts from all eras of American history and contains interactive multimedia exhibits. The National Infantry Museum emphasizes the values that are meant to define the infantryman, as well as the nation: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
In addition to galleries, the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center also consists of:
• The Patriot Park IMAX Theatre
• NIM Sim Combat Simulators
• The EST2000 Rifle Range
• The Fife and Drum Restaurant
• The Soldier Store Gift Shop
• Heritage Walk
• Memorial Walk of Honor
Until April 2008, the museum was housed in an old army hospital on Fort Benning. Space and conditions for the museum’s collection was inadequate. There was a failed attempt to raise money for a new museum in the 1970s.[citation needed] In 1998, the 501(c)(3) National Infantry Foundation was formed to plan, raise funds and to operate a new museum. The National Infantry Foundation has since formed a formal partnership with the army to manage the facility and its contents. The National Infantry Museum does not receive federal, state or city funding. Through its lease agreement with the National Infantry Foundation, the army reimburses the foundation for approximately 30 percent of the mueum’s annual operating expenses. The museum relies on donations, memberships and revenue-generating attractions such as the IMAX theatre, combat simulators, Fife and Drum Restaurant, Soldier Store and catering to cover operating expenses.
In April 2012 – three years since opening – the museum welcomed its 1,000,000th visitor. It has received coverage in national and foreign media and it received the Thea Award from the Themed Entertainment Association in 2011.
In October 2013, first Lt. Ashley White and Capt. Jenny Moreno, who had been part of a pioneering all-women team recruited for special operations combat missions and had died on night raids in southern Afghanistan, became the first two women to be honored at the National Infantry Museum's Memorial Walk.
Truck Stop Hookers
I talk about one of the most commonly asked questions I get as a truck driver. Prostitution and hookers aren't as big of a problem as people think it is. I also talk about a couple personal experiences I've had with lot lizards.

Sneaky Ways Movie Theaters Get You To Spend More Money
Between ticket prices and concessions, movie theaters are expensive. But movie theater chains like AMC and Regal only keep around 50% of the revenue from ticket sales each year. But theaters are able to keep over 80% of concessions revenue as profit. So most theaters are designed to get you to spend money on food. And it works, AMC reports that more than 71% of attendees spend money on concessions.

The Gateway Newstand in Atlanta, Georgia sells one of the winning tickets in Tuesday's Mega Millions
FOR CLEAN VERSION SEE STORY NUMBER: apus002704
Two winning tickets were sold in the $636 million Mega Millions drawing: one at a tiny newsstand in Atlanta, and the other more than 2,000 miles away in California.
The Mega Millions executive director says the lucky Georgia ticket in yesterday's drawing was sold at a Gateway Newsstand in the affluent Buckhead area.
The newsstand is frequented by workers from the Alliance Center office building.
Two other tickets sold in Georgia - one in Columbus and one in the northeast Georgia town of Winder -- won $1 million each in Tuesday's drawing, the Georgia Lottery announced.
Also, 26 $5,000 winning tickets were sold throughout Georgia.
Unfortunately, Gateway Newsstand does not receive any additional compensation for having sold the winning ticket.

It's been a long time since I visited Fort Benning Georgia. The last time I was at Fort Benning, I was younger, skinnier, and in the best shape of my life. I've changed to say the least, but Fort Benning is better than ever!
Caroline and I paid a visit to Fort Benning as an after thought while on our way to making another video. Once we got there, we both wished we planned the whole trip around Fort Benning. Even though it's one of the best military installations in the world, it's a great place to visit for the whole family, particularly, The National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center. It's OUTSTANDING! Join Caroline and I at Fort Benning Georgia, Home of the Infantry! Links to follow

Woman Severely Bitten By Bedbugs At Atlantis Paradise Island Sues Resort
It was supposed to be a trip to paradise, but it turned into a nightmare for one Florida woman. Cindi Avila of Miami claims she was the victim of a bed bug infestation in her room at the Atlantis Paradis Island resort in the Bahamas. She said she woke up on the last day of her vacation covered in bites. Avila says she notified the hotel right away and went to the nurse on staff for help. She says all they could do was try to soothe her bites, but she says nothing worked.
We spent 24 hours living through Florida’s flakka crisis
In April, we told you about how flakka, a synthetic drug easily ordered online from China, has become the new crack for many South Floridians.
Through the first half of last year alone, Florida saw more than 600 confirmed seizures of alpha-PVP — the main active ingredient in flakka. Most of them were concentrated in just three counties.
The epidemic has shown no sign of abating this year, or even recently: Eight individuals have died in the last month as a result of flakka overdoses. Earlier this month, the Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a statewide warning to parents about its dangers.
We spent 24 hours in an ambulance riding through Ft. Lauderdale chasing reports of flakka.
You don't know how they're going to act, one EMT says. That's why we send so much manpower going to all these flakka calls.
The first call came in in less than an hour.

Rivers and Rails: Daggers of the Civil War | Tennessee Civil War 150 | NPT
As Charles Dickens might have described it, rivers and rails brought the best of times and the worst of times to 19th century Tennessee. Rivers and Rails: Daggers of the Civil War, the latest episode in the Tennessee Civil War 150 series, a joint venture between Nashville Public Television (NPT) and The Renaissance Center, explores how transportation by water and steel brought great prosperity to the state just before the Civil War, only to give the invading Union Army a highway directly into the Deep South, eventually helping force the Confederacy to its knees.
Rivers and Rails: Daggers of the Civil War, co-produced by the Emmy Award-winning team of Stephen Hall and Ken Tucker of The Renaissance Center, is the seventh episode in the Tennessee Civil War 150 series, a multi-part project coinciding with the Sesquicentennial anniversary of the Civil War. Previous installments include Secession, Civil War Songs and Stories, No Going Back: Women and the War and Shiloh: The Devil's Own Day and No Looking Back: African American and the War. All have either won or been nominated for regional Emmy Awards.
