Colorado River: Gateway Park: Ocean to Ocean Bridge: Yuma Wetlands: Full Time RV Travel Life
????“There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.”
Psalms 46:4 KJV
????Yuma is a city in southwest Arizona. Overlooking the Colorado River, Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park is home to the preserved cells and guard tower of a Wild West–era prison.
????City park and beach on the Colorado River at the historic Yuma Crossing, just below the Ocean-to-Ocean Bridge.
????Go for a stroll, take a dip or just relax and watch the river flow at Gateway Park (259 N. Gila St). There's plenty of grass plus a sandy beach, fishing piers, a playground and picnic areas – even an outdoor shower to rinse off before you hop in the car.

YUMA AZ CANAL BIKE TRAIL-STUFFING TWO RECUMBENT BIKES IN HONDA ODYSSEY-EP43
Wintering for one month in Yuma AZ this December 2018, we decided that today's adventure would be an irrigation canal bike ride! Tell me we don’t know how to enjoy life!
Take a peek at our time-lapse of us taking out our (2) 93 long recumbent bikes that we carry in our 2013 Honda Odyssey tow vehicle that we tow (4) down.
Yes, I know,.....your not supposed to be able to tow this model. Ask any questions you may have about that in the comments.!
We started at Riverside Park, next to the Yuma Territorial prison, in Yuma AZ. There was plenty of parking for fairly large vehicles here. I WOULD NOT bring anything larger than a small class C motorhome.
We took the trail west, and traveled through Gateway Park to the trail's end. We turned around, and came back east, stopping at West Wetlands Park for lunch. This is a very nice place, with a pond, restrooms, shade and picnic facilities.
Returning to the East Main Canal trail, we headed south for approximately 6 miles miles to West 40th street, where the trail literally dead ends! We returned to the Yuma Crossing Bike path, getting to see the canal from the opposite prospective!
This trail is smooth, wide, asphalt and concrete. With a little route planning prior to going, you can turn this ride into an 18 mile round trip. There are a FEW bathrooms along the way,…..don’t pass by ANY of them without thinking that through.........

Lets Go Places prt 13 - Hoover Dam and Lake Mead Nevada - USA Travel - YouTube
At 726 feet (221 m) high–twice the height of the Statue of Liberty–and 1,244 feet (379 m) long, the dam weighs more than 6.6 million tons. At its base, where the maximum water pressure is 45,000 pounds per square foot, are huge generators that could produce up to 3 million horsepower and provide electricity for three states. The building of the dam created Lake Mead, which extends for 550 miles of shoreline and 247 miles of area, and is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world.
Hoover Dam required more than 5 million barrels of concrete, 4.5 million cubic yards.
40 Million People Depend on the Colorado River - Groundwater Depletion During Drought Threatens Future Water Security of the Colorado River Basin, recently published by University of California-Irvine and NASA researchers.
But the water security of the Colorado River basin is an important concept, if you are one of the 40 million people who rely on the Colorado River for drinking water, a group that includes residents of Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Tucson, and San Diego. Or if you enjoy eating vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, and spinach during the winter. Through the many diversions, dams, canals, and reservoirs the river feeds as it snakes its way from the Rockies toward Mexico, the Colorado also provides the irrigation that makes the desert bloom in California's Imperial Valley and Arizona's Yuma County—source of more than two-thirds of US winter vegetable production.

Marines from H&HS Station Weapons, MCAS Yuma, AZ 1981
I found this old film and had it converted to a digital format. I filmed this in 1981 while I was stationed at H&HS Station Weapons, MCAS Yuma. Me and my buddies used to go to the Yuma Territorial Prison park and jump off a railroad trestle into the Colorado River. I only recall the name of one of the Marines - Cpl Robert William Tucker III. Cpl Tucker passed away the following year. I am willing to bet this is the only videos that exist of Cpl Tucker. If anyone knows his family, please point them to this film.
