As of January 2015, we had started walking down a path of changes to meet a five-year goal of traveling the United States viewing and enjoying the beauty of the canvas that our Heavenly Father has painted for us to live in.
In May 2015 we bought a 28 foot Class C motor home that we called Maycee. On September 16th, we had an accident and Maycee was totaled, so we are now embarking on finding a replacement in addition to working on a homestead that we will use as our home base.
We invite you to come and enjoy the journey with us!

Downtown Charleston
Some Charleston homes date back to the 1600s when Native Americans inhabited the area. Given its proximity to the water, it was often a desirable area to many settlers from countries like Spain, France and England. Plus, given the port-like nature of the area, it served as the landing area and home to many different ethnic and religious groups. Many denominations, such as Protestants, Roman Catholics and Jews, called Charleston home, and still do. As the United States grew, Africans, both as servants and slaves, arrived to the area and into the eclectic mix of people to be found here. And after the state's succession during the Civil War, Charleston became a key strategy point given its naval abilities. Today, the city continues to honor its past while still looking ahead to the future.

JUBA DANCE: The dance of African slaves in American plantations
*** FREE STEP ITALIA OFFICIAL ***
- History of Juba dance -
The Juba dance or hambone, originally known as Pattin' Juba (Giouba, Haiti: Djouba), is an American style of dance that involves stomping as well as slapping and patting the arms, legs, chest, and cheeks. Pattin' Juba would be used to keep time for other dances during a walkaround. A Juba Dance performance could include:
counter-clockwise turning, often with one leg raised
stomping and slapping
steps such as the Jubal Jew, Yaller Cat, Pigeon Wing and Blow That Candle Out.
The Juba dance was originally brought by Kongo slaves to Charleston, South Carolina.
It became an African-American plantation dance that was performed by slaves during their gatherings when no rhythm instruments were allowed due to fear of secret codes hidden in the drumming. The sounds were also used just as Yoruba and Haitian talking drums were used to communicate.
The dance was performed in Dutch Guiana, the Caribbean, and the southern United States.
Later in the mid-19th century, music and lyrics were added, and there were public performances of the dance. Its popularization may have indirectly influenced the development of modern tap dance. The most famous Juba dancer was William Henry Lane, or Master Juba, one of the first black performers in the United States. It was often danced in minstrel shows, and is mentioned in songs such as Christy's New Song and Juba, the latter by Nathaniel Dett.
