Welcome to Gatineau Park
Welcome to Gatineau Park, the Capital Region’s conservation and outdoor recreation park.
Just 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa–Gatineau, enjoy a whole range of activities — including camping, swimming, hiking, biking — as well as heritage sites and nature interpretation.
The Park is here today for us to enjoy, because of those in the early 1900s who saw these forests as a treasure to be preserved. The National Capital Commission (NCC) is responsible for protecting this unique park, in collaboration with partners who are devoted to its conservation.

Exploring Carbide Willson Mill Ruins Gatineau Park Canada
Exploring Carbide Mill Ruins in the Gatineau Park Canada. It’s a beautiful place to explore. A nice hike up the beautiful trails leads you to a time that is now left in Ruins. This mill was built by a Canadian inventor Thomas Willson. People have called him paranoid and even a little crazy. He invented the process to create Calcium Carbide and eventually built his own experimental power station hidden in the Gatineau’s hills. We spent the afternoon exploring the ruins and waterfalls. I was surprised on how much of these ruins still stand today.. A place you must visit if you’re ever nearby!

The fall foliage that can be seen surrounding Gatineau Park's Pink Lake, which wasn't really pink when I saw it, is breathtaking to say the least. I loved hiking Gatineau Park with my HI Canada tour guide. One of the employees who works at HI Ottawa Jail Hostel, took us up to Gatineau Park for an hour long hike, followed by a BBQ at the jail hostel in Ottawa. This experience was just the start of my adventures with HI Canada in Quebec!

Hiking up Luskville Falls Trail in Gatineau Park, Quebec | Reaching the Old Fire Tower! |
There's nothing like a nostalgic impromptu spring hike! The Luskville Falls is a place I use to hike as a kid, and ever since I met Ryan I wanted to take him there to see it. 5 Years later, we finally got the chance to go!
I grew up in Aylmer, QC and Gatineau Park was my playground! At one time we lived on a farm at the foot of the hills, and I can honestly say that is where my love and passion for exploring and discovering the outdoors was properly nurtured. We had horses and would take them into the mountain trails, this is where I really learned to ride. When I wasn't riding, I was out exploring on foot. Bushwacking and navigating through the hills, learning about nature while also always searching for a good lookout of the Pontiac region. I moved away from Quebec around 11 years old, but I always think back so fondly of the privilege I had to have all that wilderness to explore.
Hope you guys love this hike as much as I always have !
