Took a road trip up to Gaviota State park to scope it out for future trips. It was a great trip, and we will definitely be back!!!!!
Gaviota State Park Best Campsites (CA)
Gaviota State Park is another one of California’s great State beaches and located about 33 miles north of Santa Barbara on U.S. Highway 101. The campground has 39 single-family (mixed-used) campsites for tents, trailers and RVs. All are short walk to the ocean, beach and pier. Access to the beach is via a trail under the iconic Southern Pacific railroad trestle that crosses Gaviota creek above the day-use parking lot.
The campground also has a camp store, drinking water, flush toilets and showers. Each campsite has a table, fire ring and grill. Firewood is also available for sale from the campground host.
If Gaviota Campground is sold out, you can get Campsite Availability Notifications from Campsite Assist. You'll get a text/email when a site becomes available for the dates you want to camp!

Gaviota Beach 10 minutes away from Solvang in California
The waves are soft even in winter. If you have gone to Solvang, it will be a good idea to visit Gaviota Beach; it has a pier, nice wildlife and great rock formations safe for kids to climb and play. There are clams and barnacles around, and cute birds playing with waves. It is part of Gaviota State Park; there is plenty of parking: we didn't pay because it was the New Year's Day, but it seems like there might be a small fee to park; either way it is worth it. It is very close to 101 Freeway. You can take the 101 North from Los Angeles; it is 2 hours away from L.A. The one lane road from the freeway to the beach is short and chances are that you might see some Monarch Butterflies; we came across a swarm. I like to travel, and I like to have a glimpse of the place I am going to before I get there, so I made this short video to show whoever whats to visit Gaviota Beach; you can also stay overnight in your R.V. We go camping at Gaviota State Park! It’s a windy few days with our tent almost collapsing, but we relax with some time at the beach and nature all around us. Can’t wait for our next camping trip!

Gaviota State Park - A Beach Camping Odyssey Part 1
Beach Glamping Odyssey - Gaviota State Park - 3 Stars ***
Stop #1 of my 8 days 7 night beach camping trip. You are rewarded to the beach side campground after going through LA traffic. Gaviota State Park is located in Goleta, just past Santa Barbara. The campground is just steps from the beach under the signature train trestle, just off Highway 101.
There are very few trains that came through and while the highway if almost adjacent to the campground, you don't hear them at all because the campground is situated way below them. If you have driven Highway 101 from Santa Barbara to Solvang, you most like have passed by the campground without knowing it.
Not far from the campground is Nojoqui Fall Park, a Santa Barbara County park where you can get to an 80 ft waterfall after a short 15 minute hike(more like a walk) from the parking lot. The trail is shaded and is dog friendly too. Unfortunately it's in the middle of the summer so it is all dry. We'll have to come back another time to see that.

La Gaviota State Beach is located on freeway 101 at the point where it turns to the north at a 90 degree angle. It is close to the town of Lompoc.

However the fact that there are so many travel related films here is not from holidays but from business trips attending trade fairs around the region.
