Geelong Museum of Motoring & Industry: Classic Restos - Series 27
Classic Restos brings us a brand new automotive museum, the 'Geelong Museum of Motoring & Industry' which opened in late 2014. To have an auto museum in Geelong, Victoria makes perfect sense, it was the city that was home of Ford, with a strong automotive legacy. The Geelong Museum of Motoring & Industry is home to an impressive collection of motor vehicles and pays tribute to the industry and manufacturing heritage of Geelong. Run by enthusiasts for everyone to enjoy.
1999- Telly news bulletins announce the closure of the Geelong Cement works
1999- and the news that the Geelong Cement works will be closed in 2000.
Mr.Bill Shorten, the then AWU rep., attempts to intercede in parent company Adelaide Brighton's decision. The then Victorian premier Mr.Jeff Kennett takes a slightly different tack ...
But to no avail. The 'Cementies' eventually succumbs to 'market forces'. An institution dies, no doubt to a collective sigh of relief to many a Geelong-ite living within the immediate vicinity of the 'works'- for them, no more midnight dust bombs ... at long last!
Disposal auctions in 2001 drew many visitors hoping to grab a bargain- and a bit of history.
The eventual toppling of the three kiln chimneys was the final act and marked the end of an era- of a unique industry; the skills and experience built up and utilised.

Vietnam Veterins Memorial Geelong - 2 June 2014
I first acknowledge the presence in the chamber of the member for Herbert and hope that he behaves himself in such a way that he will not have himself removed from this chamber.
An honourable member: He just came in to say goodbye!
Mr MARLES: I would like to speak today about a meeting I have had with the Geelong Vietnam veterans association around the development of their memorial on the corner of Swinburne Street and the Princes Highway in North Geelong. This is a great project that seeks to build upon a monument which was first established in
1995. They will seek to reincorporate, or reinvigorate, the old shire of Corio gates into the beautifully designed memorial, complete with interpretive signs which they want to ensure have on them the name of every Australian who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam war. It would be an unusual monument within Australia, because not many monuments in Australia dedicated to the Vietnam war commemorate every one of those names.
They are seeking funding from a range of places. It is a cause that I want to ascribe my name and I say to them:
I will be doing everything I can to help them in raising the money to develop this memorial.
They have one concern which it is appropriate to raise in this place. On the other side of the Princes Highway,
running from Swinburne Street to Mackey Street, is the Vietnam veterans' avenue of honour of Geelong. This is a
really important strip, as are all avenues of honour around the country, but on this one the City of Greater Geelong
have placed a large community billboard. It is simply not consistent with commemorating and honouring those
who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War and, indeed, all of those who served. This billboard
should be moved by the council now. It was simply a mistake to put it there and I am sure all good-minded
people within the council would want to do that. Equally, there is another sign, a smaller one, which describes
the Avenue of Honour and tacked onto that is another one which talks about the Maritime Museum, itself an
important place. But it is not appropriate, again, to put that onto a sign which is honouring a very significant event.
Along the same road, the Princes Highway and Latrobe Terrace, there is the Korea War Memorial, one of the
only war monuments to the Korean War in Australia. There is also the Boer War Monument. These need to be
appropriately maintained because along this strip of the Princes Highway and Latrobe Terrace we now have a
road through Geelong which honours all of these wars and can become a road of enormous significance.

ARHS Museum
Hello Everyone,
Today I have a video to comorate 75 Years of the Biggest Victorian railways Steam Locomotive H220.
Apart of this day the Australian Railway History Society Museum opened their doors with help from the Lions Club to help run this occasion.
Also Included in this video, we have another walkaround the Museum, to see the majority of the other locomotives and stock for show at the museum.
H220 is the Largest Locomotive to Role on the Victorian Railways Tracks. Originally built for the Overland service to Adelaide in which 3 were planned for construction. Due to it's very high axial load, the locomotive was not able to be use on the line, instead it took refuge on the Albury Line travelling with the older know Albury Express. Because of the time of be built was during the War, the 2 other locomotives were stopped in the likes of the K Class which were more versatile than the bigger 4-8-4 locomotives.
In earlier life in 2008 the Locomotive was finally added to the heritage register.

This is shooting - a reflection of who we are
Positive interest in the shooting sports continues to grow and nearly 70 years since the formation of the SSAA, there’s much to be proud of. In this documentary-style video, filmed script-free on location at our gun clubs and on the land, several shooters share their experiences with shooting and what it means to them to be a shooter. The stars of the video - including a family of target shooters who call their club their second home, a past champion turned coach who also happens to be in a wheelchair, a keen international handgun competitor, and a farmer who manages pest animals to protect his livelihood - are real SSAA shooters and true reflections of the diversity and inclusiveness of recreational shooting and the SSAA today.

B74s 65th Birthday Tour to Geelong
Seymour Railway Heritage Centre
B74, X31 & T357
Hello All,
Today I return with another heritage video.
This time we say Happy Birthday to locomotive B74, commemorating 65 years of service.
For this occasion the Seymour Railway Heritage Centre hosted a tour down to Geelong. Originally planned to used the Mcintyre and Brooklyn freight lines would have followed the same path as the Spirit of Progress tour operated last year.
Due to trackworks, the train had to be re-routed to go via the North Melbourne arrivals then via the RRL.
The tour was also assisted by engines X31 and T357 which ran as back up power for the tour till the evening when T357 took the lead of the tour.
The train consisted of Wooden and Steel stock, which would have formally been pulled behind B74 when still in operation with the Victorian Railways.
In this video we capture the train on it's service from Seymour to Geelong and back to Melbourne before ending the chase at Kensington.
