Performance of middle schoolers during the Hispanic segment of the Chamorro dance competition held at the Gef Pago Cultural Center in Inarajan village of Guam.
These dances showcase both native Chamorro and Hispanic influences.
Over 300 years of Spanish rule on Guam allowed for many outside influence on the native dances. Spanish galleons arriving from Acapulco brought many Spaniards, and Mexican sailors and laborers to Guam. These dances are testiment to the Hispanic history, influence, and identity of the Chamorros.
