Gelmersee | Gelmerbahn | Europe's steepest funicular - Bernese Oberland - #DJI Mavic
Discover the Grimselwelt mountain lifts! Ride the steepest funicular in Europe! The Gelmer funicular with an inclination of up to 106%. Board the Trift gondola in order to reach the starting point of the 1.5 hr hike to one of the longest suspension bridges of the Alps. Enjoy the journey with the Tälli gondola to its top station, where you can find the Tälli Mountain Restaurant as well as the starting points to the Sätteli and Tälli via ferrata. Traverse the Grimsel reservoir lake with the Sidelhorn gondola and begin your hike to the Sidelhorn peak from the top station. With the Reichenbach funicular, you can follow in the footsteps of Sherlock Holmes and sneak a peek into the impressive, 120 meters high Reichenbach waterfall. The MIB (Meiringen-Innertkirchen-Bahn) connects Meiringen to Innertkirchen, from where you can start your adventurous expeditions through the picturesque Grimselwelt.

Whoever is looking for the nerve kitzel finds it here in the Haslital on the Bern side of the Grimselpass. A climb of a maximum of 106 percent makes the single-carriage gondola undisputedly the steepest in Europe.
Alone mountain and downhill in the open car are the experience here. Nevertheless, one should not miss to take the circular hike in the Grimselgranit around the Gelmersee (2h) with good hiking boots (2 hours). Steep rock parts are secured with fixed ropes.
Sporty get on the descent via Chüenzentennlen and the old Grimselweg with the Hählen plates back to the Handegg. It is also worth taking a look from the Hängebrücke to the Handeggfall (connection from Hotel Handeck to the Gelmerbahn).

Gelmersee (or Lake Gelmer) is a reservoir in Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. The hydroelectric reservoir was completed in 1932, at about the same time as the Grimselsee reservoir, and both are operated by Kraftwerke Oberhasli. The reservoir's volume is 13 million m³ and its surface area 64.5 ha (159 acres).
The reservoir may be reached by the Gelmerbahn from Handegg, Guttannen at 1,412 m. The funicular's track with a length of 1,028 m has a maximum inclination of 106%.

Gelmerbahn 4K Guttannen Gelmersee in Canton Bern Switzerland,
Guttannen lies in the Bernese Oberland near Grimsel Pass. It is the highest settlement in the Haslital, and the municipality encompasses the upper stretches of that valley as far as the summit of the Grimsel Pass. The adjacent municipalities from the north clockwise are Innertkirchen, Obergoms, Münster-Geschinen, Fieschertal and Grindelwald.[4]
The Aare springs from glaciers in Guttannen. There are four lakes in the municipality: Lake Oberaar, Lake Grimsel, Lake Räterichsboden and Lake Gelmer. In the western part of the municipality are the mountains Schreckhorn, Lauteraarhorn, Finsteraarhorn, Agassizhorn and Sidelhorn. Guttannen also includes Finsteraar Glacier, Lauteraar Glacier, Unteraar Glacier, Grueben Glacier, and Bächli Glacier.[4]
By Swiss standards, the municipality is large in area; by comparison it is larger than the entire Canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. In elevation it stretches from the valley floor which is between 800–1,300 m (2,600–4,300 ft) into the high alpine peaks of the Finsteraarhorn group.
