Guangdong (simplified Chinese: 广东; traditional Chinese: 廣東; pinyin: Guǎngdōng; Jyutping: gwong2 dung1) is a province on the South China Sea coast of the People's Republic of China. Guangdong is also known as Canton or Kwangtung in English. It surpassed Henan and Sichuan to become the most populous province in China in January 2005, registering 79.1 million permanent residents and 31 million migrants who lived in the province for at least six months of the year; the total population was 104,303,132 at the 2010 census, accounting for 7.79 percent of Mainland China's population. The provincial capital Guangzhou and economic hub Shenzhen are among the most populous and important cities in China. The population increase since the census has been modest, the province at 2013 end had 106,440,000 people.
Since 1989 Guangdong has topped the total GDP rankings among all provincial-level divisions, with Jiangsu and Shandong second and third in rank. According to state statistics, Guangdong's GDP in 2011 reached CNY 5,267 billion, or USD 815.53 billion, making its economy roughly the same size as Netherlands. Furthermore, its 2011 nominal GDP is well over half of India's using 2012 exchange rates. Guangdong has the fourth highest GDP per capita among all provinces of mainland China, after Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Liaoning. The province contributes approximately 12 percent of the PRC's national economic output, and is home to the production facilities and offices of a wide-ranging set of multinational and Chinese corporations. Guangdong also hosts the largest Import and Export fair in China called the Canton Fair in Guangdong's capital city Guangzhou.

Spring Festival Travel Rush Continues in China
The number of passengers continues to increase across China in the Spring Festival travel rush as the festival approaches.
China has transported about 840 million passengers by all means in the first 11 days of the travel rush, and a record of 100 million passengers took the railway as of Tuesday, according to the Ministry of Transport.
The average traffic of expressways increased gradually so far and is expected to reach a peak, up 9 percent to 12 percent year on year, on Wednesday and Thursday.
Passengers also choose to take motorcycles to return home in the rush. About 9,000 motorcycles pass Zhaoqing City of Guangdong Province every day on average, decreasing from last year's 13,000 peak.
The local government provided motorcyclists with attentive services like free motorcycle repair and medical service.
The railway handled 9.2 million trips on Monday and the railway authorities increased 756 temporary trains based on the existing 7,698 trains.
A total of 8.72 million train tickets were sold on Monday.
Airports in Beijing, Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province, and Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan province, took measures to deal with the travel rush.
Beijing Capital International Airport installed automatic equipment for luggage check-in and employed e-passport to save passengers' time.
The airport had handled 17,000 flights and 2.79 million trips by Monday and is expected to handle 10.39 million trips and 66,800 flights during the Spring Festival vacation.
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport arranged 24-hour patrolling and opened all its 65 channels for passengers to check in.
Kunming Changshui International Airport handled about 130,000 trips on average every day recently and the airport opened more windows and arranged more worker staff to serve passengers.

In China, (Chinese: 国家级风景名胜区; pinyin: Guójiājí Fēngjǐng Míngshèngqū; literally: National-level Scenic and Historic Interest Area) is the exact equivalent of the term 'national park' (Chinese: 国家公园; pinyin: Guójiā Gōngyuán) applied to the rest of the world, as specified in the National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB50298-1999: Code for Scenic Area Planning, and in the Green Paper: Situation and Prospects of China's Scenic Areas published by the Ministry of Construction in 1994. National parks in China were officially approved and declared by the State Council. The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development is in charge of the supervision and administration of national and provincial parks throughout the country.
To date, China has 244 national parks. The ranges and boundaries of these national parks are often extended beyond what the official names might suggest. For example, the Taihu National Park (太湖国家级风景名胜区; overall size [scenic zones + transitional zones]：3,091 km²), stretching across Suzhou and Wuxi, is composed of 13 scenic zones (with a number of scenic spots in each SZ): Mudu, Shihu/石湖, Guangfu/光福, Dongshan/东山, Xishan/西山, Luzhi, Tongli, Mount Yushan, Meiliang Lake, Lake Lihu, Xihui, Mashan/马山, Yangxian/阳羡, plus 2 isolated scenic spots (falling outside the scenic zone): Taibo's Shrine and Tomb.

The dance drama Confucius describes the life of Confucius who had the loftiest ideal from his taking part in politics, traveling in different kingdoms, being trapped in difficulties and singing the Orchid Melody to returning to Lu Kingdom in his old age, revising works and developing the system of rites and music. The playwright was Liu Chun; The composer was Xie Peng; The stage designer was Ren Dongsheng, and the general director was Kong Dexin. It was created by China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater and first performed in Beijing in 2013. It won the excellent play award during the performing season of State-level art troupes in 2013.

China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater, which is directly affiliated to the central government, is the largest state-level theater with the longest history in China. Within the theater, there are opera troupe, dance drama troupe, a folk music troupe, symphony orchestra, stage designing department, creation studio and performance department, etc. The predecessor of theater is Yan’an Lu Xun College of Art. In March 1964, upon approval of the State Council, “China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater” began to be organized with Ma Ke as president and this name has remained unchanged ever since. The current president is Dr. TAO Cheng.
In addition to a group of famous artists such as Mr. QIAO Yu, Ms. GUO Lanying, Ms. ZHAO Qing, Mr. LIU Wenjin, Ms. CHEN Ailian, Mr. WU Yanze, Mr. LIU Shiming and Ms. SHAN Chong, the theater has a large number of outstanding young and middle-aged artists who are loved by the audience. Based on glorious history, the theater adheres to the concept of inheritance and innovation.
