Slum Survivor Lichfield
a group of young people from wade street church in Lichfield spent a weekend living outside in a slum that they built themselves out of rubbish, living on a limited diet of rice and lentils, without any luxuries (no mobile phones, ipods, pillows, hairbrushes, deodrant etc.) and completing a number of challenges to simulate what life is like in a real slum. This video shows some of the highlights
They managed to raise over £1000 for Soul Action (see soulaction.org for more info) and learnt to appreciate what they have and how to relate to the billion people all over the world who live this way for the whole of their lives

A King in the City (24th October 2015)
This video is about a trip to Tyseley to see two GWR Locomotives 3717 City of Truro and 6000 King George V (That's why the title is called King in the City)
Since Rugeley Town to Walsall was shut, a backup plan was in force using the Cross-City Line, first step of the journey required me to travel on a bus to Lichfield and then cross the road to Lichfield City Railway station to board a Class 323 to Birmingham New Street, due to the autumn timetable, this was a fast service from Sutton Coldfield to Birmingham New Street. once at Birmingham New Street I walked it to Birmingham Moor Street and then took a London Midland Class 172 to Tyseley Railway Station and took a short walk to Tyseley Locomotive works.
On display was visiting Locomotives, 6000 King George V and 3717 City of Truro which were on their way to Swindon, Tyseley home fleet locomotives 4965 Rodd Ashton Hall and 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe were also in attendance along with a few other locomotives including their Peckett Locomotive, 6201 Princess Elizabeth was also in steam with visiting locomotive LNWR Coal Tank 1054, which was working shuttle services with GWR 57xxs 9600 and LT94, 71000 Duke of Gloucester was also there due to waiting to start it's overhaul and during midday, 86259 which is based at Willesden but part of Tyseley's fleet moved onto a turntable and one side got renamed Peter Pan, (since it went on for 14 minutes! the naming ceremony was shorten down for this video, the whole clip is here:
After Tyseley open day, I went back to the railway station to catch a London Midland Class 172 DMU to Birmingham Moor Street and then walked it to Birmingham New Street to catch a Cross-City Line service to Lichfield City to get the bus back home, filmed 24th October 2015

The soldiers gather here in the street for the lecture
King Arthur II & Prince Madoc's voyage to America in AD 562
Alan Wilson & James Michael present this lecture in a College of Kentucky - one of several that Alan lectured at in his lecture tour of 1992. James Michael sadly passed away in January 2008. Were it not for his dedicated work little of this Arthur research would be known in the USA today.
This full documentary contains not just a presentation lecture but also extra footage which has never been broadcast until now. You will be shown some of the vast amounts of evidence concerning the voyage of Arthur 2 and Prince Madoc sailing from Britain to America during the 6th century - almost a thousand years before Columbus.
Also covered later in the documentary is James Michael explaining the ancient British Coelbren alphabet, and its connection to many inscriptions found in the America.
The establishment crooks have written off this Coelbren alphabet as the creation of a Welsh-British Antiquarian called Iolo Morganwg during the19th century, yet the authors easily show in their books how this accusation is completely false and they give many examples of its use and notice CENTURIES prior to the time of the alleged forgery.
The documentary is not always good quality in parts as it was only converted in 2008 using old VHS tapes originally recorded in 1992. Despite this it is a brilliant and informative documentary of how history -- like most things -- has been manipulated and forgotten.
Alan Wilson is now 80 years old and still going strong. He and his life-long fellow researcher Baram Blackett have written and published nine books. They also have available several documentaries (old and new) documenting their researches and what happens when you discover things the establishment doesn't want discovered.
Their books published to date (oldest first) are as follows:
1 - Arthur, King of Glamorgan and Gwent.
2 - Arthur and the Charter of Kings.
3 - Arthur the War King
4 - Artorius Rex Discovered
5 - The Holy Kingdom
6 - The King Arthur Conspiracy
7 - Moses in the Hieroglyphs
8 - The Discovery of the Ark of the Covenant
9 - The Trojan War of 650 BC

Crook Morris Mummers Play 17th January 2009
17th January 2009. First performance of Crook Morris Mummers Play as part of the Wassail celebrations at the Hare & Hounds, Bowland Bridge. The Mummers Play is a folk play popular throughout the whole of England in various forms. The word Mummer possibly came from the Greek word Mommo, meaning a mask, the wearing of which became popular at royal functions in the fourteenth century, the practice of such being termed as Momerie. Traditionally the performance itself begins with an introduction, usually by Father Christmas, who also clears space in the venue for the play to be performed. The play then moves onto a hero combat with two combatants who differ from play to play, such as St. (or King) George, A Turk, a soldier, a dragon and various ruffians. Much boasting of martial prowess by the combatants occurs before and after the fight. The person who is killed is always brought back to life by a quack doctor who first boasts of his skill in medicine. The play ends with a plea for money from the audience and then usually a song or Mummers carol.
